Easton's Heritage Day is today. The Clydesdales are there as part of the celebration. I question whether they will be hauling enough suds to keep Willie satisfied. ;) (Most of the time for special events they carry one case of beer for each establishment to which they stop and make a delivery.)

...My wife and I stopped by the Bethlehem Municipal Ice Rink this morning after church to see the Clydesdales...they weigh almost a ton each... the line stretched down to Illicks Mill Rd - about a football field's length - and the sun was shining brightly... luckily I had a big umbrella in my car which made the 1/2 hour wait bearable...
...seeing them up close was well worth the wait...

...jes git a small boat and anchor out in the river...
... nuthin' like drifting with fireworks over head...
...we once stood waist deep in the water with a bottle of champagne on New Year's Eve in Honolulu while fireworks burst overhead...the year Penn State played Washington in the Hula Bowl... :)

dang it!

i miss home.

@smalls103 - well if it's any consolation, I happened to be driving on the Lehigh Valley Thruway (US 22) on Monday during evening rush hour, heading East between the PA Turnpike and PA 33. There was a bit of construction, but the road was basically hosed in both directions. I haven't been on that road during rush hour in years -- probably one or more decades -- and I quickly remembered why. I don't know what traffic is like in Austin, but hopefully for you it's better than US 22 during rush hour.

...Tom, you should have given me a call...
...I live 2 minutes off Rte 22 at the Schoenersville Rd exit near the airport...
...we could have enjoyed a cold libation on my deck and waited for the parking lot to clear...
...several others on the board have found my house on Lehigh match weekends ... :)
...perhaps you could stop by for WNO or the Lehigh match this fall and join us...

...Tom, in this morning's paper there was a report of a fatal accident yesterday on Route 22 Westbound at about 6:30 PM near the Schoenersville exit which was not completely cleared up until after 9 ...

oh, how could I resist? any opportunity to talk PSU wrestling with androcles is a gift from the gods. (For those that have never had the opportunity, you should take advantage. androcles is a walking encyclopedia of PSU wrestling, and to boot one of the nicest people you will ever meet.)

my schedule is often pretty crazy in the fall, but if I'm free for either event I'll contact you.

I don't think that was the problem. I had gotten off of 22 on to PA 33 by 6:15 or so. Sounds as though I missed an even bigger traffic mess.

some of you chaps should stop in where we have the WNO dinner the night before the event.

Had to miss WNO last year because of Journeymen, but hoping to make it this year for the first time. When is the date? I'll buy Buds, but, again, I'm only bringing Cope. I know, I know - it puts more hair on your chest that you'd have to shave...

Anything exciting happening in the Lehigh Valley valley this weekend? I'm making the 5 day pilgrimage Friday morning to head back to Northampton to hang with the family, but by Saturday, I'll be looking to get out a bit.
