Willie Mailbag, Fresno State edition

I'll stand behind Willie's statement that the Central Valley has some of the best HS teams in the US. I've watched those guys compete on numerous occasions and they could hold their own against just about anyone. On top of that, they are good people too. I don't know what prompted FSU to change their minds so quickly about a wrestling program, but the HS kids in that area deserve a chance.

Good for Cenzo and good for the program. Will miss him on the podcast - he’s hilarious
Is there necessarily
Looks like the podcast is done remotely so hopefully he continues that.
So is he rumored to be going to Stanford or an RTC? I can’t think of any topics/lines of questioning/discussion on that podcast that presents a conflict of interest. Maybe a school would want to avoid it more than an RTC (NLWC).

I would think that if Cenzo is a coach at any school or RTC he could no longer be an interviewer, only an interviewee. Any appearance of conflict of interest is not good. Just my opinion.

I agree with this

Real questions. Do you guys know for sure Willie wasn’t joking? Did you hear the Koll Baschamania episode?

I thought they wanted to at least make it seem like they were joking on Baschamania. I don’t think Willie ever joked about it. Corby had also said it will “probably happen.” And I know it was posted previously here (maybe by west2east?) that it was a possibility. I think it was really only Mineo who claimed he may or may not have been joking.

Sorry to sidetrack the thread. Willie makes good points re: Fresno State but I feel like part of the reason their movement hasn’t gained a lot of momentum is this is the second time they’ve been dropped, so it seems likely that it could happen again if they get brought back. Not to mention unlike Stanford the money actually probably is an issue for them.

I'm confused at the confusion regarding Cenzo.

(also, thanks for reading)

he's certainly in conversations about a job at stanford. what am i missing?

Since I'm the one who first raised skepticism, I'll own it.

At one point the only person "reporting" it was Mineo. I don't find him trustworthy for reasons that many others have listed here ad nauseum. Not to say he's always wrong, far from it -- just that he needs verification or context or at the very least the sniff test.

Mineo and only Mineo breaking the Cenzo rumor, citing "per sources" right after Cenzo ripped him publicly (both in Twitter and Baschamania) for his journalistic practices re: Nolf rumor, flunked the sniff test badly. It reeked of mocking Cenzo.

I'm glad to be wrong about this -- for Cenzo. Hope it works out for him. It would be hard to find a better entry to coaching. And I think HS and college wrestlers will love him.

And I believe it from you and Corby.

There was definitely some level of trolling/attempted humor in Mineo’s tweet, but I wasn’t sure if it was the whole thing or just him saying “per sources” or something.

Makes sense. Don’t trust anyone with a full head of hair.

I see Ban has found an outlet from which he's not banned. Shame.
When I read the comments, I noted that this dude is kinda annoying - seems like he is the "I have had such a unique life experience that provided me insight to the tools to solve the human condition. All others are below me and I need to spread my insight across message boards to educate the neanderthals" type of guy.
Or maybe I am wrong. If so, my bad. But, wanted an 'ignore' button just reading the mailbag comments.

There's a reason's he's been banned from every message board including the Rutgers board.

Were you not on this board during the Ban era? You're spot on with your assessment. But, more than that, he was perpetually offended, or at very least seeking to be perpetually offended. Then, once he was offended, is when the smarter than, better than, holier than thou routine would start.

I’m afraid if we talk about him too much he may come back 😩
