Just for fun, calculated the list of PA prospects for PA Recruiting Team Rankings:

1. Penn State (6) - 663 points
2. Pittsburgh (5) - 375 points
3. Temple (5) - 300 points
4. Florida State (1) - 173 points
t5. Toledo (2) -105 points
t5. USCe (1) - 105 points
t5. Oklahoma (1) - 105 points
8. USCw (1) - 90 points
9. Virginia (1) - 75 points
t10. Rutgers (1) - 60 points
t10. Syracuse (1) - 60 points
t10. Boston College (1) - 60 points
t10. West Virginia (1) - 60 points
t10. Illinois (1) - 60 points

Big ticket players remaining are: Hamlin (147 points), Dioubate (140 points), Hudson (90 points).

Some thoughts:

  1. 16 of the top 35 players (specifically 16 of the 29 committed players) are staying in Pennsylvania.
  2. At the moment, Pitt is closer to Temple than PSU. Even Hamlin to Pitt and Dioubate to Temple puts Pitt over 140 points behind PSU; however, still much closer than last year (940 to 517)
  3. For the 2nd time in 3 years, Florida State has swiped the #2 ranked prospect in the state of Pennsylvania. In 2014, the got QB J.J Cosentino out of PCC.
  4. As I looked back at some older classes, I'm surprised to see how few players West Virginia is pulling out of Pennsylvania.
  5. Rutgers, maybe unsurprisingly, has continued its recent struggles recruiting quality from PA.
  6. PSU is doing a great job of landing in-state talent compared to years past. 2014, highest rated PA player was Noah Beh (#13). In 2013, PSU landed only 2 of the top 20 players (sanctions related). 2012 (also sanctions related), highest ranked player was Geno Lewis (#12).
  7. Continuing the previous point: From 2002 (earliest cycle in the Rivals database) through 2013 (last recruiting cycle before CJF), Penn State landed a total of 15 kids ranked inside the PA top-5 with only 2 being ranked the #1 overall player in the state (King and Conner) - that's good for 1.25 top 5 in-state players per year. In the previous 3 years (note: 0 top-5 players were signed in 2014), PSU has signed 6 of the top 5 players including the #1 player in 2016 (Sanders). Of course, I'm assuming the 2016 kids will sign next week.

Anyway, just thought there was some interesting data here...at least enough that I thought it was conversation worthy. Thoughts?
