With brothers closing what are some places we miss?

Those who were at PSU in the 70s and 80s will remember the Train Station (both the original one and the newer expanded version). I loved both places and closed them many a night. I met my future wife at the original one. We announced our engagement to friends at the newer one.

Release Valves, hard pretzels and Herlocher’s mustard.....

The popularity of Herlocher's mustard there was the motivation to spin it off into its own company.

Unfortunately that company markets this:

Nittany News didn’t sound right when I read the post earlier. The place on South Allen was a large store with Ben & Jerry’s and a huge newsstand. It was located at or near the McLanahan’s currently at the corner of South Allen and Calder Way. Graham’s may be it. I went there regularly in 1991 to check the magazines and buy The National (daily sports newspaper).

It was Graham’s which originally was across the street from what is now Pickles. Was there for more than 60 years... I owned it for about 2-3 years. I sold to Moyer’s who sold it to Newborn News. He had to move it since Moyer wanted to open the Animal Kingdom and he owned the building by then. Newborne then coupled Graham’s with Ben& Jerry’s and moved it to mid block of Allen Street. Eventually both were closed.

There was a third place, whose name escapes me right now. I spent a few quarters in there--though not too many as I wasn't bad at pinball. Campus Casino still had an old nickel machine in there ca. 1978. I do recall one afternoon my brother and I played for an hour and left free games on the machine. That was always the ultimate "walk off" for pinball. Playland, while it had an entrance on College, was more centered in the back off Calder Way.
Are you thinking of the Spacetion?

Thanks great memories there. My parents would take my roommate and me there.

The Lions Den has been in its current location since the late 60s. Not sure were the Copper Kitchen was but it may have been next door between the Lions Den and original Hi-Way Pizza. Down stairs was the original location for Mario & Luigi's.

No mention of the Sportscenter Cafe (before they had to change it to Sports Cafe after a rumored run-in with ESPN legal)?

$2.75 23oz drafts.
