An altered state
Appears she was going to her seat in the front row when a foul ball hit the net and drove into her head. She was right against the net when the ball hit. She was alert but taken off on a stretcher.

Scary video.

Hope she's ok, but that doesn't excuse the fact that people are constantly in and out of seats at all minutes of the game.

Where she just happened to be, those are $200+ seats. Last thing I want is someone standing there in the middle of a pitch.

This is a stadium wide issue and I addressed it with the Pirates.

Not that it matters, but I took a video of Pedro Alvarez's home run on opening day and right as the pitch was thrown some guy walks right in front of me going back to his seat.

Not only does the people who are rude and in and out during the game disrupt the view of the game for those nearby, but that person or people take the attention of those around them away from the game and when you have projectiles that need attention.

Either wait until there's an out, or after the inning is over before making a move.

In hockey, they make you wait for a break in the action.

But it does remind me of the Richie Ashburn story about how he hit the wife of the Phillies' Traveling Secretary (the guy that used to make hotel arrangements, etc.) with a foul ball and knocked her out--and then later in the at bat hit her again with another foul ball as she was being stretchered out.

It is a safety issue, though, as witness the death of Mike Coolbaugh a few years back who was coaching third base and was hit with a line foul and killed. I hope it doesn't take an incident like the one we had in Columbus where a girl was killed by an errant puck, which resulted in the extra netting now seen in all NHL rinks.

IIRC any stadium that I have visited warn you to keep your eye on the ball at all times since balls and bats can enter the seating area at any time.

single biggest pet peeve with attending sporting events today....sit down while the action is going on! run the steps when you have to hit the head or get the kid a cracker jack...have some common courtesy.

I'll note that when I was shooting some away games for Penn State some years back I requested, and was loaned, a batting helmet--just in case.

She went down like she was hit by an elephant rifle. The stadium has the closest seats to the plate in all of MLB.

I played in Pittsburgh for the Pirates. While in the on deck circle anywhere we played we reminded fans to watch their kids and keep an eye on the ball. People always thought Willie Stargell was talking to fans, he was always telling people to keep their heads up.
