Massive development to the team race is those 2 developing at the pace they are. Not just winning but adding to our bonus edge.

Heaps more pressure on tOSU’s rank and file guys to not just win, but try to roll up big scores.

I’m thrilled about Lee’s showing. He had him stuck

Agree, Lee is a better version of Thorn and Thorn was a matchup nightmare for McKenna. Lee wins that one going away, imo.

I really like that the coaches/Lee didnt go down in the 3rd. Allowed nick to keep the pressure on thorn.

not going to go all willie smalls on the issues with the mindset of defaulting to bottom on your choice, but it was a great call and executed flawlessly.

What is it about Shak that makes him so good at hitting the cradle? It's such a deadly effective move that you'd think all the top guys would be going for it to the extent he does. While most of our guys are brilliant technicians it doesn't seem like they come close to Shak's ability to hit a cradle.... why? Is it a unique combination of length and strength that none of the others have?

A Kraken has loong, strooong arms. He's also been a cradler since at least high school. Has a good feel.

I think it's his length/frame. He has long arms and he drapes himself over these guys and just cranks that cradle. He's probably stronger than we think, too.

Besides his excellent arm length and physical strength I think you can add to it an uncanny sense of feel. Ed had it as well. They can feel exactly when their opponent is in position for the cradle and they have impeccable timing to hit it at that exact moment.

Shakur has turned and pinned guys with the cradle position but without locking his grip, suggests strong arms to me, as I don't think I've seen that at D1 before.

Was anyone else thinking during the cradle nearfall, "Man, he could finish this off a lot quicker if he had Nolf's Foot"?

I mean, Zain has been practicing The Sweep. Lee executed a Release Cradle last night. If only Rasheed would use The Foot, it would given even further meaning to The Krackin'.

Agree, plus the fact that McKenna and Campbell look like they are not getting to the podium, although I wouldn't be surprised if McKenna did.

hmmm.... Nobody wants a Shaken nut krackin' ;)

I apologize, I couldn't resist!

The strong cross-face, just before folding his opponents in half, is a good start.

I’ve been watching and wondering also and I think it is a mixture of the things everyone has said, and a bit mental to boot. We’ve all known guys that have a natural strength that can’t be equaled by lifting weights. Maybe that is Shak? Sure seems like it, along with the long arms. He is impressive in manhandling 197’s. Maybe I’m dumb, but I keep being surprised by it.

The freedom many on the team have (and we see developing in more of the team) to not worry about giving up a few points, along with a growing confidence seems to have enabled him to maximize his quickness and moves. I’ve seen super quick guys who hesitate just enough that the quickness is mostly negated. Shak seems to have moved past that and as his confidence has grown, he is just flowing and maximizing his gifts and skills. He’s having fun and not worrying about anything.

That may be simplistic, but to me, much of any sport is mental (at a high level), and Shak seems to me to have turned a corner in that regard. I believe Cassar just needs to turn that same mental corner and he will dominate (though maybe not in pins like Rasheed). We have some great guys at 197.

Thank you. That was an excellent post!

What are the chances the Shraken is released today? Or does Cael let Raptor wrestle in his home state?

Except maybe Darmstadt. Those two are twin, Darmstadt maybe a bit taller at 6-3 or 6-4. He’s wreslting with house money. Pace is frenetic.

Hopefully he and Shak end up on opposite sides of the bracket cause no one will want to be on the mat with them.

I’m assuming Shak without disrespecting Cassar. I think they both occupy the same spot on the podium, but Shack will bring 6 or more bonus points with him.

Plan on seeing more far side half Nelson’s too. When the opponent stretches to avoid the cross face, usually the far shoulder comes up on the release and The Shrakken’s arms are loooong
