Illinois was begging us to pass.

Passing is our strength and should have been used to open up the run option.

But we just kept running, over and over right into their DL.

Any HS coach could have called a better game plan. I don't give a rats ass how Cliff wasn't up to par.

Cliff had to be good enough to throw the ball against this pathetic defense.

And what happen to "TAKE WHAT THE DEFENSE GIVES YOU"??

Believe it or not. Our defense design was worse. Bieliema told us what he was doing. 7 OL and two te’s. No receivers. An immobile qb. I’m giving the ball to my tailback.

Why didn’t we go to goal line D? Stuck with our base. Terrible

The problem was we had a QB who couldnt get the ball downfield, couldn’t move and shouldn’t have been playing. Kind of hard to pass when your QB can’t get the ball past 15 yards with any zip or accuracy. Playing Clifford was their biggest failure on offense, it pretty much killed any chance to do anything on offense. Illinois knew Clifford couldn’t run, didn’t want to get hit and couldn’t get downfield.

Yurcich reminds me of Fichtner when he was with the Steelers. Keep smashing that square peg until the round hole hopefully breaks apparently.

wtf was that play in OT when they tried to pass to an injured Clifford for the TD? He could not totally turn around or even really move his body to catch the ball

Could they have possibly picked a stupider play at that point in the game?
Actually the call was fine. All Warren had to do was lob it out to him.

That was one of maybe two times I have seen that play not work. I don't recall the other college or pro.

Clifford could have went and turned around... Stood in the endzone and not have had to move anything but his hands he was that open.
