wow, look at the redshirts at Michigan

Four NCAA qualifiers, two of whom are AA; that's pretty devastating. Micic, Massa and classmates will have to grow up quickly.

Two are seniors, though one is for injury reasons...perfectly understandable. Seems like they're loading up for a run next year. Big picture stuff, early view, they might be better than Iowa next year, given what Iowa is losing, though Ohio State (no seniors) and Penn State (maybe 2 seniors, but capable replacements) will be stacked.

Based on last year's lineup and their new faces, I thought they'd contend for the B1G crown.

They can still contend next year. This will likely help them in the team race a lot.

Its an interesting move. Will have to search long and hard to see if another program was as bold. I wonder if scUM will get critized for it, should they have a winning team next year.

Didn't Marinelli sit last week? Hmmm. Will be interesting to see if he is at the Parisi Open
The pre-season word was that Marinelli would likely shirt to start with, and then in beginning of January the decision would be made whether or not to pull the shirt. Don't know if anything has changed.

It was reported this week (don't remember from what news outlet) that all redshirts would be going to Parisi Open.

Yes, that's the plan. Keep the shirt on until after Midlands. If he does really well, then they have a decision to make.

Agreed. Coon also comes back next year. Michigan has a legitimate shot at third in the Big Ten when Iowa hits the reset button. No small feat that. Ohio State is also due for a reset the following year so there will be a two year window for third place.

Yes, I was just wondering if Alex might have been one of the guys to tweak a knee. He didn't wrestle at the Luther Open this past weekend. If he's not at Parisi, there would have to be a concern.

Too bad they didn't also redshirt Brian Murphy, a TRSR. Next year's lineup could be:
125 Assad RSSO
133 Micic RSSO
141 Zac Hall RSJR
149 Pantaleo RSJR
157 Murphy RSSR
165 L. Massa RSSO
174 Mahomes RSJR
184 Abounader RSSR
197 Striggow RSSO
285 Coon RSSR

That'd be a point-scoring machine in Cleveland! Still will be, even without Murphy.

He will be there

Didn't Abounader already wrestle in a dual? I guess they are going to apply for a medical shirt?

Some of us wondered why Michigan didn't decide to do this (i.e., basically give up on 16-17 and load up for 17-18) back when Coon was lost for the season. I guess the injury to Abounader convinced the Silver Fox to do so.

As others have pointed out, Michigan is on track to have quite a potent lineup for 2017-18.

Too bad they didn't also redshirt Brian Murphy, a TRSR. Next year's lineup could be:
125 Assad RSSO .20
133 Micic RSSO .60
141 Zac Hall RSJR .50
149 Pantaleo RSJR .02
157 Murphy RSSR .01
165 L. Massa RSSO .75
174 Mahomes RSJR .10
184 Abounader RSSR .15
197 Striggow RSSO .60
285 Coon RSSR .80

That'd be a point-scoring machine in Cleveland! Still will be, even without Murphy.
Anybody want to take a crack at their probabilities of straight winning against our projected lineup? I started above. Am I way off anywhere?

If that is their lineup I would take us at 25, 33, 49, 57, 74, 84, 97. 41 is a toss but I am optimistic so I would like to think we could win that too, and 65 is winnable. HWT would be tough.

Kind of scary to think we would be favored in 7 matches against a lineup that strong

125 Suriano 3-0
133 Cortez 6-0
141 Lee 9-0
149 Zain 15-0 (continues his streak of falls against Pants)
157 Nolf 21-0
165 Massa 21-3
174 Nick Hall 26-3
184 Bo 29-3
197 Cutch/Cassar 32-3
Heavy Match of the Night Nevills 35-3 (my only homer pick)

We match up well against them. And Joseph could beat Massa too.

I'm lovin what I'm seeing from Angry Bo Nickal so far this year, but a healthy Abounader is a boss. I'd up his chances to >40%.

I love what you did with Pantaleo & Murphy. Pantaleo definitely deserves that extra one hundredth of a chance based on his performances of late ;)

Nick Hall, got to laugh.:p

Bad info alert! Marinelli not at Parisi. Apparently dinged up.
Looking at the HR pbp from the sisters of the poor duals.... The top of the lineup is a bit sketchy.

But hey they got the best lightweight coaches around.

Little sisters of the poor play TCU and Boise in football, and wrestle Iowa?
