Our latest installment of rankings has dropped this morning, and we have another new #1 in the dual rankings. Not sure how they haven't been yet this year, but Penn State is in the top slot, while they've held a commanding lead in the Tournament rankings the entire season.

That's if Fix stays at 125. HR thinks he's moving down to 125.
He has a better shot at beating Spencer than he does RBY.
Because of the severity of the cut he probably has a better shot at getting to 133 finals than 125.

If he can make it though the cut to Saturday night, on full feed/recovery ...I think he has a punchers chance at beating Spencer.

Saturday night he weighs 145 without being sluggish from such a short time intake, he is so freaking strong Spencer's wrist roll tilt ain't happening and Fix is very good so Spencer isn't blowing through him from the neutral position. Spencer needs to find a way to score in the third or OT. I would give Fix more than a puncher's chance. I have only ever seen Fix take a single shot in the finals, but if Smith could convince him to shoot in the 3rd I think Fix wins.

to beat Lee you're going to have to pressure into him, especially if he shoots. The two matches he lost to Rivera both came to where he was pressured and it look that is where his knees don't hold up. Sort of looked that way in the finals last year... didn't he give up a td (or was close)

Didn't wrestle finals last year, beat Courtney year b4. Pretty sure Spencer did not bonus him, but I don't recall ever thinking Courtney might score. The year b4 wasn't competed, b4 that the kid from UVA was pounded and of course Nick never attempted any offense.

not sure what you are addressing. Only comment on last year was a potential TD he gave up? Other than that it is reported ACL issues going back as far as when he wrestled Rivera.

Nicky Dahmer pulled it off and chased Spencer all the way to a redshirt.

RBY started yr at 1..not sure what caused him to drop

I thought you were saying in "last year's finals", and I was replying to his finals performances and not recalling any time Specer (or his knees) looked physically stressed.
If you were addressing one of the couple matches he tried at the beginning of last year, soor I misunderstood.

The only guys he wrestled early in the season were ranked in the 60s. Meanwhile, the three guys that Fix beat early in the season were all in the 30s. For two guys that are so close in ELO points, that matters.
More than the 2 HTH wins?
Get back in your tree.

WrestleStat had RBY as the preseason #1, dropped him to #2 in week 3, back to #1 in week 7, then back to #2 in week 9. Fix has a few more matches this year and has beaten some higher ranking (according to WrestleStat) wrestlers this season.

Yeah, during the preseason I had 2 anomolies in the rankings that needed addressing, RBY and Starocci I believe. Both were NOT #1 at their respective weights, which was obviously a problem.
Ran thousands more simulations with some enhancements to the rankings algorithm to get them where they "should" have been.
But, apparently in doing that, they weren't "out front" enough to offset wins from the guys ranked at #2 and jumping them in ELO points. I'll need to work on it more next offseason to make it better.
IMO, RBY and Starocci should have massive leads (re ELO points) at their respective weights, similar to how Lee is at 125 (ignoring everyone's comments about Fix to 125, lol).
