Iowa Okie State
For Iowa to win either Stoll will need a pin, or Brooks needs to beat Boyd.
I think it ends something like 17-16 Okie State.
Iowa gets 125 (bonus), 133, 149, 157 and HWT
Okie St gets 141, 165 (bonus?), 174, 184, 197 (bonus).

Thanks Roar. I believe I saw that ASU is also going to be at Virginia Duals this weekend. If that is correct, perhaps we'd see a Walz v Hall and Epperly v Valencia showdowns?

Good possibility of that happening. It's hard to tell if that would be in the semis or finals of the "gold" tournament.

VA Duals is being run as a group of 4 pools, each with a round robin:
- VT, Lock Haven, Kent State
- Oklahoma, ODU, UTC
- Sparky, Bucknell, Campbell
- Virginia, ND State, Citadel

Then the 4 pool winners face off in a 4-team tourney for "gold." Single-elemination tourney with a 3rd/4th match. Pool runners-up will compete for "silver" and 3rd placers for "bronze."

It's a neat idea -- all teams are guaranteed 5 matches.

Any word on whether of the PSU wrestlers are going to Shorty Hitchcock this weekend? If Cassar and Cortez are healthy, might be a good place to get each of them several bouts. For Cortez, would help him get ready for Clark next week and to maybe get enough bouts for an RPI at the end of the regular season.

'Shorty' Hitchcock? At Millersville?

So far, the following PSUers are registered:

- Devin Schnupp
- Scott Stossel
- Mason Lindenmuth
- Bo Pipher
- Brian Friery
- Devon Van Cura

I just hope it's not as bad as the match a few years ago that ended 15-15 with, I believe, 90 total match points for all ten matches combined (pretty sure it was 47-43). I wanted to stab my eyes out by the end of that snoozefest.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but the TrackWrestling link describes the formula for their ranking, which I know does not include bonus points. It says:

"Trackwrestling’s team rankings are based off the number of advancement and placement points each squad would accumulate if its wrestlers finished in those ranking slots at the NCAA Championships. Top-ranked wrestlers earn 20 points, followed by 16 for second, 13.5 for third, 12.5 for fourth, 10 for fifth, 9 for sixth, 6.5 for seventh, 5.5 for eighth, 2 for spots 9-12, 1.5 for spots 13-16 and 1 for 17-25.".

Is this Track's formula for estimating NCAA placement and advancement points, or will all wrestlers accumulate those placement and advancement points regardless of how they get there? Does someone finishing 3rd get the same amount of placement/advancement points if he loses in Semis and then finishes strong Saturday, as opposed to someone who loses round 1 and wrestles all the way back for 3rd? Do they end up the same? What about pigtails... are those points evened out too? Or is Track just estimating the point total for those advancement/placers in order to put together their model? I imagine the difference is relatively negligible (if it exists at all) compared to bonus points, but am curious.

Thanks in advance.

Track's points are the most likely Advancement/Placement total that a wrestler will get for the Placement noted. There is variation if a wrestler has a pigtail in the Championship or Wrestleback Brackets, but there's odds against that as none of the seeded wrestlers are placed into the Championship's pigtail bout.

A wrestler losing in the 1st Round and earning 3rd by winning out through wrestlebacks will earn .5 fewer Advancement Points than a guy that drops down in Round 2 or after...unless they get the wrestleback pigtail.

The good news is Heil is only wrestling once.

Just saw that Tanner Hall had a close 1-0 decision over Jere Heino of Campbell. Walz majored Haines, 24-15. Decent showing by Thomas. ASU and VT both advanced to semis. ASU and could face each other in finals. Semis also have OU & NDS.
