Wrestling Trivia - HS Teammates at same NCAA weight

The updated rankings this week have HS teammates Michael Kemerer and Josh Shields ranked in the top 5 at 157. I am aware that the following two scenarios occurred (at least once):

1) HS teammates faced each other in the D1 NCAA finals; and
2) Three HS teammates were D1 AAs at the same weight.

Anyone want to take a guess? Hint: both happened in last 25 years.

Interesting that Maruca and spencer lee where on the same HS team as Shields and Kemerer. In addition Nico came from Franklin Regional

I believe one year Ray Brinzer, Rich Catalano and Ken Bauer were all in NCAA quarterfinals at the same weight

Not sure whether they all made AA

I was heating up my lunch and it hit me ... My mind isn't as sharp, the two teammates from HS who went head to head in the finals, Mt Carmel Illinois Tony Davis and TJ Williams

PSUcup1 -- in 1994, Brinzer (3rd seed) and Catalano (8th seed) made the QFs at 167, but Bauer (11th seed) lost in the R16. Only Catalano made AA that year.

Ranked #10 at 141, Tyler Smith (3x NCAA qualifier and missed AA by one match last year) was also on the same FR team as Maruca, Lee, Shields, and Kemerer.

Ranked #10 at 141, Tyler Smith (3x NCAA qualifier and missed AA by one match last year) was also on the same FR team as Maruca, Lee, Shields, and Kemerer.

That team also had Dom Giannangelli, Devin Brown and Gus Solomon as well.
