Vermont Rep. Peter Welch.

Welch is just the latest United States politician to get caught with his hands in the cookie commie jar. Welch’s financial data shows that on March 15, 2019, he bought roughly $15,000 worth of shares in two Chinese funds, KraneShares Bosera MSCI China A ETF and KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF. ETF stands for “exchange-traded funds.”

One of the funds, KraneShares CSI ETF, holds a stake in a technology platform company that censors users on behalf of the CCP. The company, Tencent, which has been flagged by the U.S. State Department as a “tool of the Chinese government,” accounts for the fund’s largest investment.

The CCP has infiltrated the highest levels of government. Many of our so-called leaders are compromised. Democrats' mantra during Trump's presidency was "Resist." Ours must be "Rise Up!" The country is doomed if we don't.

to be honest, much ado about nothing (so far). Tencent is indeed funded by the Chinese govt and is like a combo of Facebook, Twitter and Google all rolled into one. In fact, Tencent owns WeChat. It is actually pretty cool. You sign up to WeChat and attach a credit card. You are given a QR code. When you buy something, they have QR code scanners. You scan your QR code and the payment is made. This is taken by a ton of the little markets and lowers the transaction costs considerably. In fact, many places in the USA take WeChat payments (CA specifically).

While alarming, I am will to bet every senator and congressperson has some kind of holding in china directly or indirectly.

China has a way of using money for leverage. It is astonishing to learn about the numbers of US politicians at the national , state and sometimes even local levels who are on the hook for them. It includes plenty of political figures on both sides of the aisle and goes back to the 1980’s.
I recommend Peter Schweizer’s Secret Empires as an expose of this, even though the book is a few years old now.

While I am sure there are plenty of people in office influenced or compromised by China and we need to be vigilant, is this really a big deal? A $15,000 investment in ETFs from a few years ago? That’s honestly not a ton of money for an investment.

And the problem is TenCent? TenCent is a massive conglomerate with investments almost everywhere in every industry(kind of like Berkshire).

I have invested in TenCent, does that make me compromised by China?

the whole of our society is being infiltrated by the chinese. They are putting money into universities, the newspapers, farmland, businesses and, had it not been for Trump and Huawei, into the underpinnings of our technical world.
It's kind of scary that so much of our economy is now receiving funds from china.
