Allow me, first, to make a few things clear:
1) I consider myself politically, Independent. I, for various psychological and financial reasons consider the Republican and Democrat Parties as ONE party, controlled by the financial sector. The choice is merely an illusion.
2) As you all know, I am a Secular Humanist. Which, simply means, I don't need to wonder what a God would want me to do before I make a decision. Nor, do I need a reward/punishment system to keep me civil and pleasant.
3) I have become a staunch NRA supporter. I believe in checks/balances. I strongly feel that Americans should own weapons
4) I am Liberal. I think taxes should be used for education; healthcare and food, for example. A simple example, taxes for public education. It helped make us who we are. Remove public education, then you quickly have a generation that can't read and write. Who then, will man our battleships? Fight in our wars? You can't even join the military WITHOUT the basic high school diploma. The military NEEDS highly educated soldiers, now. The illiterate kid with no hope joining the military is LONG gone.
Now, that being said, how fvckin' long until some douchbag comes along with (ahem) weapons of MASS destruction? I ain't simply talking about a "dirty" bomb or Islamic terrorist attack. Yes. These are very real threats. No one doubts this.
What I am specificallly speaking about is HATE. And, the indoctrination of people by HATE groups. Clearly, you all remember the Army of God, right? Abortion killings? Gay killings?
How long till someone full of HATE comes along even more intelligent than the Unabomber?
You may think the answer lies in God. As far as I am concerned, you might as well put your faith in Astrology.
The answer lies in EDUCATION. There's many reasons why Pres Obama spoke about FREE oommunity college. We, as a society MUST raise the bar of the LCD among us. It benefits us all to do so.
Mother Earth has erupted in the past. And, geologists KNOW Mother Earth will erupt again. The question is when, not if. At the moment, there is little humanity can do to prevent this.
However, mass killings are preventable. War is preventable. Hate is preventable. Don't your children deserve an America that is strong AND safe?
