I'll leave it to you to suss it out, but it has a bunch of !!!!!!!!!!!!! in the title.

I, for one, will miss the guy. Hopefully he has learned a life lesson. If you want to say a Bo Nickal gets lucky and had the refs in his pocket, a Zahid Valencia only won his 4th Ironman because it was fixed in his favor, implicitly and explicitly trash a school and its fan base, and act like a raving lunatic at said school's open, expect a few critical posts from the peanut gallery.

He tries for the sympathy card in referencing posts about his 10 year old. I think everyone respected the kid's video recording skills and I'm glad to hear the kid supports his brother's endeavors.

At least now there's one less outlet for you to spread rumors like a bored housewife.

How did I know who it was before going over there? Imo, Mr. Martin should have never taken part in message boards in the first place. Hes right, 10 year old kids should be left out of things. That I agree with but if you're going to question the decusuons of the coach that your son wrestles for, imply that your son is somehow being cheated by referees and make unsavory comments about PSU, its people and campus then you are fair game.

I know! Like I want some angry wrestling dad banging on my door ready to throw down. I'm already in trouble with my Capo for being a little short this month.

You knew he was a few posts away - maybe a week away if Bo beats his son - from going Race Card on the Rec Hall/BJC crowd. You could just feel it.

Yup! The loser in all this is Myles. I feel bad for him that his father acts like that on message boards. Maybe I'm wrong and its no biggie or he hasn't been affected by any of it... I don't know. I will say even if he wasn't, there are definitely people close to him (teammates and their family's) making comments behind his back. The OSU coaching staff would be another. You don't think they got wind that Mr. Martin is out on public forums questioning their decisions such pulling his redshirt, watching film among other things?

Minor correction, the "loser" in this is Mr. Martin, who has a gift for jackassery. Those suffering the most are Myles and his kid brother -- who will be in HS when Myles completes college, thus will very likely get to live it all over again. I feel bad for both of them.

Message board notoriety is seductive. Mr. Martin wouldn't be the first scorned poster to swear off a board only to return again. And again. And again. I'm guessing we haven't heard the last from him.

It's practically a law of message boards that anyone who announces their departure is doomed to return for more. But I feel bad for the guy because it's been clear for long that he was under the mistaken assumption that his posts weren't being read outside that small circle. Some people get the internet and some people don't, and if you're the latter it's probably best to not use your real name.

I feel bad for him as well. Lots of folks have learned the hard way that what you post in public forums often goes beyond that specific forum. While the Ohio board prides itself on folks having to use their name, and not hide behind a handle, that's a problem for parents or relatives of wrestlers. If they could use a handle, they could remain anonymous, unless they elect to disclose how they know so much inside info.

I've been running message boards that used handles since 95 or 96 (can't recall which year was the 1st). Over that long span, there have been a lot of parents, relatives, and high school coaches of PSU athletes that posted. Most of them were relatives or coaches of football players, as I haven't been involved with any PSU sport-specific board until this one. FWIW, there have been a number of parents of wrestlers, or prospects, that have posted on this board. Unless they outed themselves, at best all most posters realized was that these relatives or coaches had some good info.

It's tough for a lot of parents. They are as invested in their athlete's development, performance, and success as the athlete is. They've spent years working with them, taking them to endless camps, tournaments, etc. And then their pride and joy goes off to college, and the parents are not nearly as involved as they're used to, and if their son/daughter encounters some bumps, they want to defend them.

I do have sympathy for Gregory Martin. That said, it's not as though anyone was inventing things about him, about Myles, or about his younger son. Pretty much everything that was posted in other forums, including this one, stemmed for posts that Mr. Martin made.
