Wow, even though he’s made some visits here, seemed like he would stick with OSU. Fitz even said last week on a pod that it wasn’t happening.
Does this make us the favorite? Or is the SEC making a push as well?
Carter exploding the last few weeks play into this at all? Our recent success with edge players is hard to argue with.

well, he states that tOSU is in the running although it is rare a kid decommits then goes back but it does happen.
There have been a lot of local rumors that tOSU's Day has not been happy with the DL play this season. Larry Johnson is a legend but at age 72, it is hard to believe he will last through a current recruit's tenure at the school.
Yeah, I thought Fitz implied that Chaz Coleman would fill that last DE scholarship. We have a lot of DEs in this class. Any chance that Mathis is more suited at DT?
I've heard from several that we're offering quite a substantial NIL package for him. perhaps more than anybody else involved. That may play a role here.
I'd definitely take him, but he's a very raw prospect. That has probably kept the temperature down with some of the elite schools. Still worth the pursuit.

That certainly can't hurt our recruiting position with him. But I'm quite certain there are other factors in play as well.
It has also been reported for a few months that OSU isn't willing to pay him the kind of money he's looking for. I think we can be more selective in throwing money at a kid like this, whereas OSU, Bama, UGA, etc. have so many top-100 guys that they can't possibly pay them all what they each want.
At the same time, it sounds as though we are still in on Gompers. Can never have too much talent at DE, just defensive tackle!
You mean that college football coaches use the age of other teams coaches as a recruiting tool? That's shocking.
