Folks ready to give up on this team already-- we're 1-0 and a lot of young players got a lot of valuable experience yesterday. Yes, there is a lot to clean up and there's a lot of improvement to be made but haven't we seen this before over Franklin's previous 4 years coaching our teams? Haven't our teams played better week in and week out? I have no reason whatsoever to believe we'll stay the same. I am confident we will improve, I am confident the young players that have so much talent will get better, will learn from their mistakes, will follow leaders like McSorley and Sanders and Jan Johnson and Nick Scott and will be better.
I've always felt that when we don't play our best football but walk away with a win, we win twice because teachable moments are more valuable than anything we do in practice. The game film will provide example after example of where we can do things better and I am sure our coaches will use the game film to our full advantage.
If you've already given up, I feel sorry for you. Will we be great this year? Maybe not, but it sure as hell won't be for lack of trying on both the players and coaches parts. For me, I think we will ultimately be great-- I think expectations of perfection, as exemplified in many threads started during and after yesterday's game, are what is unrealistic. We said over and over again that the first 4 games will provide the opportunity for us to work the kinks out. App State was the first step in that process. Trust the process, it's never failed us before.
As always, WE ARE
