Wyoming Seminary at Blair Academy.
Should be great match.
If anyone interested in seeing it coming from West. Just take 80 East and get off the Columbia NJ exit (GPS might show Hope exit). Once off exit, look for Route 94 Blairstown. The intersection is a cluster****. Blair is about 12 minutes down the road.

For those in attendance: we're cheering for both Bartlett (obviously!) and Van Ness (who has PSU in his top 5)..

Are Van Ness and Mastro healthy? I hope so because the team isn’t the same without them.

Van Ness won 19-5 over Drew Munch, who is an Ironman Champ and Prep National Champ. Van Ness has an incredible pace and motor. Kid is going to be special.

Van Ness looked incredible!! Munch is very good and Van Ness made him look like a jv kid. The freshman from Sem at 160 was super impressive. Beating Mastro in itself is an accomplishment but doing it as a freshman in that environment was amazing. What a great duel! Bartlett looked great. Wish Bouzakis was able to go.

If you were to compare him to any past PSU wrestler, who would he remind you of?

El Jefe, could I please ask your opinion on 2 questions about Van Ness? First, regarding his eventual college weight, are he and Bartlett projecting at the same weight or could Van Ness go 33 and Beau 41? Second, does Beau coming to PSU lessen our chances of landing Van Ness because of them possibly being near the same weight? TIA.
I'm salivating at the possibility of Howard - Van Ness - Bartlett - and Crookham all on our squad :)

Van Ness is already bigger than Bartlett and a year younger, guessing college 149, though I haven't seen his parents as potential indicators of his growth.

Overlap with Crookham might be a bigger concern. Guesing Van Ness would eventually find his way up to 157 -- though Crookham still has 2 years of HS + possibly a shirt before then.

Luckily for us, Cael has figured this out before.

I believe Crookman beat Howard this year so I would assume they will not be at same weight in 2 years.
I know a couple of Lehigh alum and they think Lehigh will be in the mix for Crookman if he's ok academicly.

So you're saying a lower weight lineup of Figueroa - Howard - Bartlett - Crookham - Van Ness is still in play for the next phase of the World Domination plan? :)

FWIW I have a co-worker whose son wrestles at the same club as Van Ness. He said Van Ness is a Princeton lean currently.

That's true.

Encouraging that Van Ness is apparently not a Rutgers lean despite the family ties.
Assuming he has the grades for Princeton, I would think it would be a tough decision not to go to one of most elite academic schools in the country.

Yeah but......four possible titles I'd take the psu education, three of the best coaches in the country, and teammates in the room that will make me better. Ohhhhh ...... And I would like to note that I used commas in this post. Just saying

I do think we as fans overlook the decision that athletes and families have to make when deciding on college. Certainly a Rutgers or Penn State degree is great. But I am certain some athletes and parents would have to consider some of the more prestigious schools in the country such as Cornell, Penn, Princeton, Lehigh and Stanford. That decision is a not just a 4 or 5 year commitment but also a career choice. Few of the wrestlers we watch make wrestling their career choice. Some of them pursue coaching, camps and clinics as the direction they would like to follow, so for them the best wrestling program might be their best choice. However some athletes might have other dreams. Cornell has probably the best Vetinarian program in the country. If a wrestler had a dream to be a Vet, I'm certain that would influence his decision.
Us fans just want the wrestlers to make our program better, but we have to realize that the choice is more than what team has best coaches and facilities. The choice for some is what school is best for them.

You had to go and throw reason and logic in the mix lol. I agree. In the end I would want for them what I want for my own children. To make the right choice for the long game

Is a vetinarian a doctor who examines a patient’s vetina? :) [edit: pronounced va-tigh-na]
