Crashing Vor

She's out there. Waiting.

Welp, looks like old Devin Nunes’ hands, I mean lawyers, are giving up on rounding up their maverick. After a long, hard chase, @DevinCow slipped the lasso and remains free and unbranded, roaming the unfenced plains of social media.

The Fresno Bee reports that Congressman Nunes’ lawyers have hit a dead end in their quest to reveal the identities of the Twitter personalities Devin Nunes’ Cow (@DevinCow) and Devin Nune’s Mom (@mom_nunes). The lawyers had been trying to force Twitter to reveal the authors of the anti-Nunes tweets, but have reached, as they say, “a dead end.”

An interesting footnote: Nunes’ lawyers cited an Executive Order issued on May 28 by a resident of Washington, DC, saying that companies like Twitter don’t have protection under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, and that social media companies are liable for the content of their users. That lamed argument was quickly put out of its misery.

“They’re doing more than allowing Liz Mair, the cow and the mom to post a tweet,” Biss said. “They’re censoring, they’re promoting an anti-Nunes agenda, they’re banning conservative accounts and they’re knowingly encouraging it.”

Judge John Marshall did not issue a ruling on Twitter’s motion. He raised pointed questions about Nunes’ arguments, citing the federal law that broadly protects social media companies from defamation lawsuits.

It’s been a long trail, Devin, a hard ride with hard men, marked by triumph, heartache, beans and hard tack. Your hands gave you the best a roundup boss could ask for, but your Great White Cow was just too wily.

She’s out there still. Waiting. Watching.

And, as you drift off to a fretful sleep in the dim light of the campfire’s last embers, don’t be surprised if the silence is rent with a defiant, blood-chilling moo.
