100 Days...and counting...

What are the chances of adding maybe a home meet with Va Tech, or NC State, or an Iowa State or something?

How difficult is it to get tickets for a home match? Our grandson is wrestling at grade school level and would to have him see some high quality wrestling.
Rec Hall is always sold out before the season.
The guarantee a seat route is Stubhub, but a bit expensive.
Some tickets are sold in from of Rec Hall before the matches.
Taking a kid? Use Stubhub.
Begging for a grandson on this board may also work occasionally.

To add to Fine's comments above, if you and your grandson are capable of standing for a match, SRO (Standing Room Only) tickets will be made available for sale by the Ticket Office. You'll have to keep your eye on the wrestling page on gopsusports.com.

Roar....are you hearing a date yet for the team intro event?

I'm assuming you are referring to the kickoff event, like the one held at Rec Hall last year?

The coaching staff took over the planning of this event, last year being the first of its kind. I have not heard from the coaches yet, their plans for this October. Right now, they're tied up with recruiting and the Olympics, and trying to get as much family-time as possible. Guessing we'll know something by late-August. Hope that helps.

One more avenue: Get tickets for the BJC match(es). Lehigh might not sell out. And if it does it will be late.
However, Rec Hall is the place to get the real wrestling atmosphere.

Post again after the schedule comes out. I sometimes have extras and always try to get them to PSU fans.

Thanks. We're already considering this. Waiting to find out if that weekend works for our son and his family.

Did we ever figure out the November 11 data?
Both Army and Cornell Have us on their schedule on Nov 11.
Tri-Meet? At Army or Cornell? Fri / Sat meets?
Obviously a bus trip target.

Cornell doesn't sound right...if I'm not mistaken, Ivies aren't allowed to start wrestling duals until the Friday after that (November 18th).

The November 11 date is Army. Cornell has not released their schedule, and it appears the reference on the EIWA website should have stated Army, not Cornell. Was it removed?

Here's the Ivy Rule:
In gymnastics, squash, track, and wrestling, practice begins on October 15 and competition begins on the evening of the Friday prior to Thanksgiving.

It was removed shortly after posting here....coincidence maybe???

Shame, I really would like to go to Cornell for meet. Army is 4+ hours from central PA. Who knows maybe if I get a deer in archery, I may make this trip, as that is a uniquely cool place to visit.

Only 91 days - fast running out of time for the transfers to Rutgers. The fate of a massive cruise liner is up in the air ...

For those interested in attending a match at Army, a reminder: it is a military installation. Be sure to check the visitors rules before leaving -- it's not just what items you can bring into the gym, but also what you can have in your car (or bus), what entrances you can use to get on campus, where you can park, etc.

Probably won't be any issues, but the rules can change on very short notice. Would hate to see people drive 4+ hrs only to get turned away.

Elderly or handicapped fans should confirm parking at the gym, or hopefully there will be an organized bus trip. The campus is very hilly.

One thing that won't change: don't drive an inch over the speed limit on any military base.

I hope lots of people can go. The campus is beautiful, with stunning views over the Hudson. It's an inspirational place with the most dedicated people. Oh, and it's PSU wrestling!

Good, I'm not the only one who saw it. It was definitely there a few days ago. The Army match looks solid with the arena listed. The gym is very good for wrestling as long as you are not too high up. Get club tickets early.
The gym is adjacent to the football stadium on a hill overlooking the Hudson River. Get there early and enjoy a scenic hike. Or get there in the afternoon and do a thorough tour of campus. Lots of interesting things to see.

Parking lot to gym is about 100 steps down through a path in the woods. Older people should definitely get dropped off in front.

Fine, I saw the match listed, too...last week on the EIWA website. Couldn't find it again, shortly after it was mentioned here. Maybe redblades told someone at Cornell...

Anyone know how attendance at OSU in Columbus is? My cousin and I are targeting this match as it works with our wives interests (friends in the area).

unfamiliar with their general attendance, but I do hear it is a long bus ride to state college.

seriously, though outside of PSU and Iowa home match tickets are generally available everywhere.

Even PSU matches which are sell outs have several entrepreneurs outside to help people get tickets.

Last we (PSU) were there, attendance was about 6,100. The arena holds over 13,000. Guessing more than 6,100 will attend this coming year, as both teams will be near the top in the national title chase.

.......and about 6 for the non-big meets. A different environment.

I don't know why it was on the EIWA website, but the Cornell schedule came out today via Rob's summer newsletter - no PSU dual on the schedule (unless Cornell finishes much higher than expected for the dual bowl series).

Maybe next year?

I don't know why it was on the EIWA website

Probably because they gave a summer intern CMS permissions to add events but not edit/delete. They try to scroll down to the "submit" button when the "Army" drop-down is active and it scrolls to Cornell. Whoops, submitted anyway, can't delete it, better go back and add the real event! I'll remember to tell someone I screwed up...right after I catch this Pidgey...

Keep checking the ticket board and wrestling board during the season. I typically can't make a match or two and just give my tickets to PSU fans.
