11:00 AM CT kick at Minny

Minnesota game is a noon est kickoff according to the University of Minnesota Football account

No. 5 Penn State and No. 13 Minnesota will meet at Noon ET (11 a.m. CT/local time) on Sat., Nov. 9 at TCF Bank Stadium.

ABC will televise the contest from the home of the Golden Gophers

Minnesota fans under the mistaken impression that the Minnesota AD decided the start time.

  • Penn State body clocks factor. I don’t hate it. We as fans need to be elite and bring the noise.

I don't mean to argue, which naturally means I'm about to, but why would we rather them feel like they are playing at 12pm vs 8pm?
  • Coyle knows what he is doing and you’re crazy if you don’t think PJ had input into the decision.

Once we declined the prime time slot, there was a high likelihood we would get 11 am, and here we are. Biggest game in more than a decade, trying to fill the stadium, and this is what we choose. smdh

  • Between this and the Fleck extension issue, I am not feeling a lot of confidence in our administration this morning.

Sounds like the Gophers vetoed the chance to be the prime time game is what they’re saying.

All completely wrong. ABC is calling the tune. PSU and Minny are just dancing.

It's not an hour difference. It's noon eastern time, the time we're used to. Should not be a factor at all.
That's what I was thinking too. If anything, they would be at a disadvantage starting at 11 local time (I don't think it will matter to them though). It's not like our team is getting there 3 days in advance and will be adjusted to Central time.

We've overcome Iowa out there at night, a furious Michigan rally, and a flood of Biblical proportions at Sparty. So I don't want to hear boo about the start time. I don't care if we're playing in the parking lot at 0430.

Absolutely no excuses. Get. It. Done.
funny isn't it? this must be the "exorcise the demons" tour for Penn State

That is apparently correct. Not sure about the exact mechanism, but teams have some ability to "veto" evening games in November. The latest TV contract allowed for them to occur, but only with team's permission (not sure if it is only the home team or both teams).

It came out in the last week that Minnesota declined to host at night for fan comfort.

I never like these 11 am local time slots. PSU has a history of starting slow in these situations. Hopefully things are different now.

I meant an hour difference between time zones. Not like west coast teams coming East for a noon start. Shouldn’t impact either team much.

when have we played a ranked 8-0 team in that slot though?

There are about 60 power five teams across the country that are wishing they could be playing in an undefeated contest at 12:00 noon with a chance of moving on to bigger and better things. If our players and coaches have trouble being motivated for a noon game against a very good opponent then we don't deserve bigger and better things.

It's a new day. I'm confident that will not be a problem. I HOPE it will not be a problem.

This is being peddled on twitter by 'Matt Sarzyniak' (who near as I can tell predicts/lists game times for every upcoming game) too - Minny had a shot at the evening start time and shot it down.

I read somewhere that Oklahoma is in town for a MBB and that affected the start time decision FWIW.
