Hey guys, new to the board. I'm a big psu fan and love wrestlng. I follow the forums often and was thinking about next year. I was just curious what you guys think is going to happen next year with 125? Do you think Suriano is going to come in and be ready to make an impact at NCAAs or does he redshirt?

A lot of what I've read leads me to believe he'll be ready immediately. Having said that Yannovich has looked pretty good this year so he'll likely have something to say about who starts next year.

I would think Suriano will come right in and be ready to go unless Yanovich continues to progress and can stand in for the year. My money is on Suriano being the starter

I think he will come in and compete. Whether he wins the job or not is a different story. The plan for world domination, as dicussed by others on this board, does have NS winning 125 next year, then shirting, as Spence Lee takes over 125. Then Suriano goes 133, and Cortez 141 after Guilibon graduates.

It sounds like a good plan now, but lots of things can happen. Clearly Suriano is an excellent wrestler to appears to still be in a mode of improving all facets of his game.

Whoever goes for us, the cupboard will not be bare at 125; Tomasello, Gilman, Dance, Peters, Lambert, Moisey, Youtsey, Bresser, McGhee, Millhof are all Juniors or Sophomores. Even if a couple move up, this'll be a loaded weight class next year.

With how strong the team looks like it will be next year, and how strong 125 will be next year, I feel like a redshirt year as a freshman would help him develop even more. But I like SRATH's idea with Lee

In any case the decision won't be made until at least this time next year. Even if Suriano is best wrestler at 125 next season that doesn't mean he will start. There is a lot more to the decision than that.

The world domination plan is for Suriano to go 125 for two years, then shirt before going 133 to succeed Cortez. Lee shirts as a true FR.

In lineup form:
2017: Suriano, Cortez, Gulibon
2018: Suriano, Cortez, Moss/Dinmore; Lee shirts
2019: Lee, Cortez, Dinmore; Suriano shirts
2020: Lee, Suriano, Dinmore

Not sure where Nick and Joe Lee project yet. Nick is a JR 132 (HS class of 2017). Guessing he shirts 2018, then competes for 141 in 2019 ... strictly a guess until we see if he drops to 126 for states this year, and what weight he goes next year.

Of course things could change if Suriano can't hold 125 that long, or Cortez can't hold 133 that long. And conceivably another superstar lightweight could come on board (Teasdale?).

Forget Teasdale as his girl friend is going to Iowa and his parents are buying a home there too.

If yanny could man 125 it would allow both suri and lee to take RS.

If this is what happens, then it can really help Suriano adjust to the weight change, like Zain did for this year. But seeing how long Cortez and Suriano can stay at 125 and 133 will be interesting. I do think they can win the title next year if Suriano does redshirt next year, anyways. Suriano has a lot of competition as mentioned if he doesn't

will be interesting if the world champ will shirt.... i don't think he will need to... (Speaking of SLee)

Can Dinmore really expect to be a career 141? 2nd year removed from high school where he wrestled 152.

There will always be a lot of competition, this is big time Div 1 wrestling. Nobody here can reasonably predict how Suriano matches up with that list of guys. 125 is a weight where youngsters can and regularly do challenge very early in their careers. Just Making a list of kids that will return is really irrelevant to Suriano, the kid has an edge to him, what that means? Nobody knows or could predict. I'd say Cael could judge watching him wrestle next year and how quickly he progresses by January as the true and only test.
