Some tough decisions for the coaches to make as who represents PSU at 141 and 165 at the B1G tournament.

141 - Don't know what has happened to Jimmy. He actually looked good in the tOSU match, but since than he has been missing in action. I'd have bet the bank that Jimmy would be our tournament starter, but after the last two starts, you have to give serious consideration to Moss. At the Scuffle Moss had 8.5 points and Jimmy .5 points (don't remember if Jimmy may have been injured), but that is a significant difference. I think whoever Cael starts at the dual championship will be the PSU starter at the B1G tournament; I'm thinking it is Moss.

165 - Almost all discussions on this weight class have centered on either Rasheed or Morelli; nothing on Hammond and yet he scored the post PSU points at the Scuffle in this weight class. Points at the Scuffle were Hammond - 15.5 points, Morelli - 14.5 points and Rasheed 7 points.

I've been a strong supporter of Rasheed, but managing his weight has been a great challenge for him. He has the best potential to score bonus points, but if his opponent gets him to the 3rd period, he is out of gas. I'm sure he is doing all he can to manage his weight, but I think the cut for him is big.

Morelli won the NLO and performed well at the Scuffle. He is not one to score bonus points. He is 1-3 against B1G opponents, although each of those losses have been very close (1 point). Not as exciting a wrestler as Rasheed, but a solid performer.

I'd have liked to see Hammond given a few dual opportunities; his absence from the duals is a good indicator that he is probably out of the running as the tournament starter.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Before Saturday's match, during Cael's taped interview with Byers, Cael said that Geno is the guy because Rasheed has a body that does not want to go at 165. So, I think the decision is made.

I, too, think Moss should be inserted at 141.

Cutch vs Rasheed should be really interesting next year.
I think Rasheed will beat Clutch next year for the 184 spot. This is the perfect weight for him. From what i have seen it will be Rasheed. If he could keep feeling alright in the 3rd period this year he would be awesome. Body is just saying no. I want to grow. If he hits the weights hard he will be a beast at 184 next season.

Sure, he'd need to hit the weights, but it wouldn't have to be anything crazy. He's essentially a 174 pounder right now. Hopefully he wrestles some freestyle this offseason. I think he could compete this summer at 80kg (universities) and do really well. If he is still junior eligible (?), then perhaps he could wrestle as high as 185 pounds.

And of course, if Nickal moves up to 184 or 197, then Rasheed could fit in at 174 while Hall redshirts. Would like to see Bo stay put, though.

I doubt PSU ends up needing points at 141 or 165 to win the title. It is going to come down to the 6 hammers doing what they do if the title is going back to HV. Three finalists and the other 3 all top 6 between 125,133,149,157,174,197 and it is over. I don't think anyone else has the horsepower to keep up with that. Too much bonus from Zain,Nolf,Bo, and MM.

I could see Iowa with 2 finalists and 3 other high AA to go along with a couple of 7-8 guys.

PSU has potential for a couple low AA guys as well, but that is gravy. I would trust Cael if given the choice. He understands wrestling fairly well.

Disagree, I still like Cutch to beat a beefed up Shakur if that happens. Shakur isn't going to be hitting those big moves vs the big boys, Cutch is far more technically superior at this point.

What do you think about:

Nickal to 184 and Shakur to 174? That would allow Hall to come in right away (if he doesn't redshirt) or Cenzo/Nolf at 165?

Bo is staying put from what i am hearing and Rasheed to 84. 184 he would be healthy and very strong. He will hit the weights hard and be a beat at 184 trust me. You do not know his walk around weight.
