1994 all american team. always liked Bob Hopes show

It was funny when they were showing the offense after introducing them, the camera had to stop and pan down for the placekicker.

Did Warren Sapp forget his uniform? Looks like a makeshift plain jersey with green tape to outline the numbers that the wardrobe crew crafted together. Or one he made for Halloween.
Who could forget Sapp at the Heisman award with a big mouthful of chewing tobacco, that dude was a class act.Thug life at the U.

One thing I always appreciated about Sapp was during an interview before the Orange Bowl, the reporter asked him if Miami should be national champs if they beat Nebraska. He said something along the lines of only if Penn State loses in the Rose Bowl. Was actually surprised when I heard him say it.

He was. I was just surprised his Miami braggadocio would allow him to say it
I’ll never forgive Sapp for expending ridiculous amount of energy in the first half celebrating on a couple down field tackles that caused him to be so exhausted in the second half that Nebraska could run the ball at will and won easily. If the NCAA had an iota amount of justice and integrity we should have been co-national champions. Our comeback win in very crappy weather conditions at Illinois who was clearly the #1 defense in the country in 94 alone earned us a MNC. We had 14 players on offense on that team play in the NFL. Seems to be unprecedented and unequaled even by Bama and Clemson. No other team is close to being hosed to the extent we have been.

In my opinion one of the great tragedies in the history of sports.

And if Miami had tried to take time off the clock with a good running game while holding the lead, rather than Costa throwing deep far too often trying to hit the home run, they probably would have worn down the Nebraska D enough to hold on and win. And given their own D enough rest to hold on and force Nebraska into a few riskier plays.

I've said it since that season - Miami peaked about 2/3 of the way through the season and weren't quite as good overall late in the schedule. They had a great record, but just did not get better late. By the end of the season, Oregon was playing about as well as anyone outside of PSU and Nebraska. I think that as a comparison, Oregon would have beaten Miami by at least a TD had they played in a bowl, while PSU would have won by about the same margin over Nebraska.

We were penalized in the polls for our deceivingly close win at Indiana, while Nebraska had to play lights out in the 4th quarter to beat a really bad Iowa State team.

I'd take that '94 team against anyone, especially with a month for Joe and company to prepare. It's a MNC season in my book, along with '69. And if there had been playoffs, '77 and '81 may have been there, too. I'll concede '68 and '73 and '05 just to contain the argument!
