According to Mineo, Rumors are Cael is going to RS anyone with one available. He notes rby, lee, brooks and kerk. I know our coaches have quite the closed door in terms of HQ but for what it is worth Mineo has been correct quite a few times lately. I mean thins news does not come as any surprise as i am sure many of us expected this. It is definitely going to be interesting going forward.

This could be interesting especially with someone like Robbie meaning can he keep 125 for 2 years now amongst others

I have heard this rumor also. As a fan, I do not want to see this, but with the current situation I think it would be a wise move. Why chance have NCAA cancelled again.
As for Howard, yes, I do believe that 2 years our for 125 could be a stretch, but on a positive note. would give Cael another year to recruit another 125lber, also the 2021-2022 team would be a pretty good one!

I wouldn't be surprised if this is what happens, however the chance that Cael, etal have told Mineo this is ZERO.

Does Kerkvliet want to redshirt even? I thought the kid is hellbent on leaving by 2023 (that's according to Mineo also lol)

Nevills needs a RS and Kerk already RS’d last year.

Kerk did a YouTube video interview with the kids from Heavyweight Nation last month and he confirmed he could take the Oly Shirt this year but "that's up to my coaches". Kerk did mention he plans on MMA down the road....(Warning: The interview is hard on the ears. Brutal).

Makes total sense. Season will probably start and be cancelled.

mid a medicine is found to help people get over this quickly until a vaccine is found , then go all out

“Rumors”... sure. RBY said he was leaning towards a redshirt with everything going on. Then it’s just simple math. Assume that it is a PSU-aided lean not just RBY’s plan, assume if the plan is to redshirt RBY they are punting and will redshirt everyone else. Throw it out and see if it sticks.

One part facts, two parts reasonable assumptions. Follow that formula and now you are an insider. (50% of the time)

Could be a lot of redshirt this year, that decision does not have to be made for 3 or 4 months...a lot can happen in that time.

It's funny but when Cael did the last big redshirt group to set up the next four years, I thought I would hate that season. It was the complete opposite for me when the season arrived, I really enjoyed seeing those new faces and how hard those guys fought. They weren't going to be four time finalists but they left everything on the mat when the third period ended. Plus I felt later it helped with depth of the bench.

This past year we saw new faces but the season was almost nefandous for the reason. It is one thing to voluntarily redshirt, and someone else gets a crack at it; its another when you're out due to an injury.

Thanks for sharing. Curious if Kerkvliet has gotten or will get surgery. I know he wrestled without an ACL for a bit ...

Thanks for the new word! Never heard it before. It’s a good one.

If the season actually starts I can't see it getting canceled like last year. The NCAA jumped the gun majorly last year imo.
I can see why kerk wants to be an mma heavyweight. The HW division is horrible. It's usually been weak but it's going through an incredibly thin stretch. Having said that I'd love if all these good college HWs went the mma route and improved it.
I would hate seeing kerk wrestkefuk the shit out of someone for 2( mins tho. Would be boring. Here's to hoping they all fight like Gaethje!!!!

Pretty much this. Obviously Mineo didn’t talk to Cael, but I think he basically just follows every D1 wrestler/prospect in the country on Facebook/Twitter/instagram/tiktok/LinkedIn/myspace/AOL instant messenger and messages most of them too. Understandable if some of these kids post or message things that they maybe shouldn’t be (like RBY did with PD3)

I agree with PAwrestling It makes sense as something the coaches can keep in their hip pocket as a potential contingency plan. Cael has about 4 months to go before he has to make any commitments on the starting lineup. The situation might be completely different at that time, or we might have some new information to use to make decisions. And wrestling isn't the only sport that is facing the same circumstances.

If wrestling even happens this year we’ll be so glad to see anything that it won’t matter if everybody sits. Verk, Berge, Joe Lee, Starocci, Beard and Seth will still be fun to watch and maybe a LW will surprise us.

They screwed the pooch and canceled last year when they didn't need too. The worst thing tho would be making decisions this far out.
Wrestling seems easier than most. Test each starter before the match. Easy peasy lol. I wish it was that easy but it can be done. Psu would be RS a pretty good opportunity at a title if wrestling does happen and thats their plan.

'Wrestling seems easier than most', I would like to hang out with you my brother, your optimism might prove 'infectious'!

However I sadly beg to differ. wrestling is probably the most complicated by far due to the extreme close contact, sharing sweat, skin to skin contact, blood, breath in your face ... As a minimum (in theory) you would need to test each wrestler before each practice to be sure, and even then... Noone is going to do that.

With a 3-10 day incubation period where you likely test negative while 'conceivably' 'contageous, what happens after you wrestle someone who later turns up positive? Everyone being in the same room sharing mutual partners at least 1 weight class up or down 'theoretically' one guy could infect a while team through the handoffs.

Say Meredith tests positive, and spends time vs RBY who also trains with Nick Lee, who takes a go with Verk and so on.... Not allowing RBY to wrestle against Nick would severely affect the quality of the training. Even if you didn't allow for cross weight class contact, they are all still in the same room, getting their faces smashed onto the same mat.

Case in point. Have you seen what those idiots are doing in MLB? Three games into the well thought out restart they are already cancelling games because they played a game against a team that has had a positive test(s). If that is their plan, after 4 months of study and brainstorming, I have to shake my head.

What happens when any wrestling team has 1 or 2 positives? I bet the next match will get cancelled, if not several weeks worth of contests. What about the team that wrested them 2 days earlier, who has a match 3 days in the future?

No matter what the NCAA and/or Big 10 come up with it's bound to be a cluster. If MLB can't get their shit together for an outdoor sport, wrestling is doomed. We haven't even begin to talk about crazy parents, attorneys, or academic administrators who have shown no testicles ever!

If I see only a handful of matches before things implode I will be ecstatic. The Flo event Saturday was a shot of adrenalin. We need to Redshirt everything that moves and let's all cross our fingers for sanity returning in the fall of 2021. I am good with seeing guys like Meredith, Starocci, Verk, Manville, Berge, Beard and Seth do their thing even if we see only a half dozen matches, but to potentially lose a year of eligibility to guys who can RS in 2020/21 would be unwise.

I have faith that the NCAA and BIG leadership will come up with a plan ...(wink, wink)
