First of all everyone calm down. I don't know why everyone is acting like the sky is falling down on Penn State football. I personally think the next two seasons look very bright, especially 2017.
I'll start with the coaching staff. If Joe Moorhead is as good as several other coaches and players indicated, we are in for a real treat. Not only should his offense be good, but really exciting to watch. And with so many people saying how good his passing offense is, I don't see how he could not be a success. Anyone in the coaching business has had great reviews to say about him, and not one negative thing.
Losing Shoop hurts. But with Brent Pry being the assistant DC under him for years I think we are in good hands. And everything that we are hearing is that we are not going to miss a beat.
Herb Hand leaving cannot hurt, only help. I read somewhere that we will be going to a zone blocking scheme, which is what Moorhead wants in his offense.
Onto the 2016. Moorheads whole system is predicated on being able to run the ball. I don't know if they'll start or how much Bates and Gonzo will make a difference, but things are looking up. Who wouldn't kill to have S. Barkley and M. Sanders on there team. Defensively we are going to take a hit a bit. Obviously on the D-line. Your not going to see an A. Zettel or A. Johnson. and of course Nassib was great to, but I'm talking about the DT's where it all starts. P. Cothren and A. White (whom I keep trying to get info on, but get no answers) Will be able to hold there own. And we keep hearing Windsor is looking really good and Buchholz is going to be a beast as he grows into his body.
Also getting back a 100% Nyeem Whartman-White is huge and like getting a 4*star veteran back who knows the system.
Now 2017. This is the year I think we could really make are run. By now Bates, Gonzo, Probably McGovern, and Menet who everyone has been high on. Should make for a really good starting O-line. Plus don't count out Fries being worked in there somehow. I know people don't like to make a big deal about rankings or stars, But I think it's at least a gauge to go by, and by 2017 almost the whole team will be littered with four star players. Combined with the twin towers in J.Johnson and I. Charles with Godwin and Hamilton, in a high powered passing attack to boot. That has to be a QB's dream.
The D-Backfield is loaded. Reid, Taylor, McPhearson (Very Underrated) etc..
The point is we are going to have an unbelievable wealth of talent. We are going to have four star players at Every position accept maybe like one or two. So everyone chill out for 2016, take in the new offense, and then in 2017 watch what we do with finally a great O-line in 2017.
LB's C. Brown, M. Bowen, Cooper, Maybe Ferns or Dave Adams.
