On Friday I met Paul Clifford, the new CEO of the Alumni Association. I also met his Dad, PSU '72 if memory serves me. I liked BOTH of these men immensely and I believe they love Penn State. Paul did not get his degree from PSU (YET, as he said) but he was raised on the Blue Kool-AID we took as part of a welcome gift. He listened attentively to all my fellow Alumni Council partner and I shared and said he is listening to as many alumni as possible. He will walk a tight rope. Development pays his paycheck, because the emotion presented by Dr Jim Smith at the fall Council meeting to have him work for we, the Alumni, did not pass. His Dad has been a long time season ticket holder for Football and Wrestling, driving in and home from Hazleton. Paul is reading everything he sees online, in Social Media and talking to alumni to see what we think. I found him to be forthright, and open, very smart and a good listener. I also believe - and this comes not from meeting Paul or our talk in any way- but I think HUGE things are coming in 2016. I believe that this is the year Sue and team bring the NCAA to the woodshed, that the cases against Graham, Tim and Curley are dropped due to lack of evidence, and the Freeh report is totally discredited. I also believe we will be HONORING JOE sometime in 2016. This fall marks the 50 year anniversary of his first game as head coach and I think we will see things happen then, or at least by Christmas. I do not think they will ever put the statue back where it was, if so they would have left the base, wall and team plaques in place, but SOMETHING will happen. There are so many of us fighting for the Truth, we have removed so many of the Old Guard on the BOT and the days for Masser, Eckel and Dambley are numbered. I have champagne chilling for the day when TRUTH rises and Freeh is exposed for the fraud he is.

What does this mean?

It's disgusting that 4 years after the fact, CSS have yet to even get on the docket to be heard in court. The state doesn't have a case, but 6th Amendment be damned, they're gonna save face by stalling until nobody remember how badly they screwed the pooch.

I want that statue exactly where it was. The assholes at this university and in the media/public made that statue a battlecry and now I want it right back where it was to shove it in the face of everyone. There are many battles to be fought and won and that statue is one of them.

For the record I never even remotely thought/cared about the statue but after all that happened and after that plane incident removing that statue was a declaration of war. And I don't give a rat's ass if the entire university disappears as long as that statue is standing.

Ditto and bravo!

Our great grandchildren will be dead before CSS go to trial. Gotta love the corruption in the Pa. Judicial system. Definitely smells like somethings are being buried or hidden for political purposes.

There are so many of us fighting for the Truth, we have removed so many of the Old Guard on the BOT and the days for Masser, Eckel and Dambley are numbered.

Each actually will run into term limits, or other issues, so their time on the BOT will end.

Masser was 1st elected by Ag Societies to the BOT in 2008. As such, his term limit is 15 years from his joining the BOT on July 1, 2008. His time as a member of the BOT will come to an end on June 30, 2023, and that's assuming that he runs for another term in 2017, and then another term in 2020. Since Masser served as a Chairman of the BOT, he will automatically become a Trustee Emeritus when he choses to leave the BOT, or if he serves until his term limit. I should also note that the term limit restrictions does not apply to the Chair, so if Masser runs and is elected to 2 more terms, and is also the Chair in 2023 (almost no chance of that), he could stay on the BOT beyond 2023.

Eckel was elected to the BOT in 1996. For trustees elected prior to July 1, 2003, the term limit is 15 years from July 1, 2003. Thus, Eckel will his his term limit on June 30, 2018. His current term ends this year. It will be interesting to see if he runs for an additional term, even though he can only serve 2 years of that term.

Dambly is a Governor Appointment. He was first appointed (and approved by the PA Senate) to the BOT in 2007. As such, his term limit is June 30, 2022. His current term ends on June 30, 2017. There is zero chance that he'll be appointed to another term by Gov. Wolf. So unless the BOT elects him to an At-Large trustee position (as they did with Kathleen Casey in 2015 -- another Gov. Appointed trustee who was not going to be re-appointed by Gov. Wolf when her term ended in June, 2015), he has 1.5 years left on the BOT.

I know that after 4+ years, many of you are weary of waiting for improvement on the BOT. I share your frustration. That said, I've always believed in taking the long view, and whether they like it or not, term limits will affect all of the old guard trustees.

On a broader scale, my thanks to Sue for the information on her meeting with Paul Clifford.

What does this mean?

"Development pays his paycheck, because the emotion presented by Dr Jim Smith at the fall Council meeting to have him work for we, the Alumni, did not pass."

Believe that she meant to write "the motion presented", and accidentally added an "e" before "motion".

Progress has been made in a lot of areas:

1 - Probably the biggest gain has been access to the Freeh File documents.....which was accomplished through the Courts, by suing the corrupt, evil Scoundrels controlling the BOT.
That IS HUGE.

2 - Knocking Corbett out of office was very important....and will continue to pay dividends down the road....most directly through his appointments to the Board.
Thank you, Thank you to the engaged/enraged PA voters.

3 - I believe, and some may debate it, that the whole conflagration involving Kane/Porngate/etc is a good thing....or at least the exposure of that stuff is a good thing.

IMO, without Penn Staters....without Penn Staters taking up the fight....

- NONE of this comes to light (Hell, Kane wouldn't even have been elected, and we would have had Corbett 2.0 in that office)
- NONE of the resignations of corrupt Supreme Court Justices comes to pass
- NONE of the exposure of the inbred corruption amongst the Bench and the Prosecution comes to light

We still have a gigantic mess to clean up.....but we now have a start.
For that, ALL Pennsylvanians owe a debt of gratitude to the (sometimes) few, but always passionate folks who have refused to "Move On"

There have also been some setbacks:

1 - The Corman Surrender was at the forefront, and very damaging. It was a tremendous opportunity presented by the Commonwealth Court......and we allowed Corman and his Masters to f&ck us over - and thanked him for it.
The "Paterno Suit" will likely NEVER bring anywhere near the level of illumination that was gift-wrapped to us via Covey and the Commonwealth Court.
Alas

The most important issue remains unresolved:

The control of the PSU BOT by the Cabal of Scoundrels.
By far, this is the most impactful issue - and it remains unresolved......despite a LOT of efforts which we should all hope (and pray) will eventually yield fruit, as of right now the Scoundrels maintain their control.
There is some reason for optimism, however.....and PLENTY of reason to keep up (and intensify) the fight.
Unless and until this issue is resolved, we have accomplished nothing of lasting value.

As we have already seen, "getting there" - deposing these Scoundrels - is going to be a multi-step process.

Thus far, aside from a few who "termed out" or left on their own - after inflicting as much damage as possible....and appointing similar unauthorized Scoundrels and Scumbags to take their place - the unelected Scoundrels remain, and they remain in control.
The only Scoundrels we have deposed are........the ONLY ones we have even a tangential ability to depose via our votes. But, we HAVE evicted ALL of those that we have ultimate control over:

- The 9 previous Alumni Elected folks (a couple of them didn't even run for re-election....the ones who could determine which way the wind was blowing. Oddly enough, that DID NOT include "The Weatherman" :) )
- Two (of the six) Governor appointees....via appointments by Wolf (although one of those was just repositioned into an "Appointee Seat" through Reform Proposal A +)
-
We will, presumably, see the remaining 4 Governor Appointee seats filled with non-Scoundrels over the next two years (as those positions come up for re-appointment).....and the three Cabinet Member seats, now held by Wolf appointees, appear to be filled with decent folks.

In the meantime, in order to maintain their majority, the Scoundrels crammed down their Reform Proposal A+, which they used to bring an entire new raft of Scumbags onto the Board...and cancel out the gains made over the previous three years.

Maybe the one silver lining to the Reform Proposal A+ nonsense is that it illustrated to ANYONE who was paying attention - as clearly as a swift kick in the nutz - that the path to reform (to freeing PSU from the Scoundrels) MUST come from the Legislature or the Courts.
Yudichak has put forth a very righteous and (IMO) well-intended reform bill.
He garnered support from the majority of the Senators
Those are two VERY important steps

Unfortunately, Our Boy Jake, and his Masters (with the help of bag-men from Dear Old State)...continues to hobble that bill. But, the bill is out there, and if the pressure can be increased, there remains the possibility that true reform can come to pass.

The Courts present another option for Board reform....and as of yet, an option which hasn't really been pursued.
But, if the review of the Freeh Documents clearly shows a breach of fiduciary responsibility on the part of the Scoundrels (or if ANY of the other discovery actions can show that breach), it would not be hard to imagine a petition being initiated through the Courts to impose reform of the Cabal.
That is an opportunity that is still several steps away.....but we are a lot closer to it now (especially with the access granted to the Freeh File documents) than we were 4 years ago.

Your list of optimism for 2016 seems beyond belief. I hope you're right.
