2016 RECRUITING

I thought recruiting was supposed to rev up after July 1st. I guess they meant August 1st.

No, it's July 1. You are just making the bad assumption that because the process has "revved up" that means we would hear more. That is not necessarily true. First, wrestling is not like football or bball, there are not recruiting services like rivals calling recruits every day to get updates. Second, coaches can't address the issue at all. Third, recruits publically say what they want to say WHEN they want to say it, not on OUR schedule.

Yeah, if you go back and read his next comment he says "there's still plenty of mutual interest with the Surianos..."

Think the ole' FT is reading what he wants to read :D

"donhawkie" So when the Iowa board thinks they are going to get any top recruits they have no clue but when a couple make rather vague statements that you dug deep to spin in PSU's favor they are credible posters?

There are some people who like to be humble and preface with "don't like to say I told you so" I am not one of those people. I do in fact enjoy it :D

btw, when are you guys organizing an apology thread for Willie?

You may have "told me so" on Suriano, but it doesn't change the fact that you only find HR posters as credible when the post pro-PSU stuff, which is pretty much what started our discussion.

Congrats on Suriano. He'll be a fine wrestler and I may even root for him from time to time.

In depth discussion about Lee going on over on the tOSU board over the past two days. Same insiders that were discussing Suriano. Nothing really new about who's in the running except tOSU is clear 3rd right now. I continue to get the sense that Iowa is not the leader they thought they were and that picking up Suriano was in fact very good for PSU because it sounds like Lee does want to redshirt. I also get the impression we aren't getting an announcement anytime soon.

That is a very good board though they need more contributors - lack of anonymity no doubt keeps numbers down. Bob Preusse and the mysterious "Dano" (hopefully they are lurking and get a kick out of that) definitely are plugged in and don't let their fandom get in the way of recruiting predictions. They have about as good a record as anyone for picking where the top guys are going.

I think they were really bullish on Hall a few weeks ago and then cooled just a bit. I wonder if Nebraska is a real factor.

So what's the deal with Dano? He's a source of Preusse's ? Who stays off the boards himself? Or is he just Preusse himself?

Damn. And with Iowa's troubling history of not redshirting wrestlers....

Vak is just making straw arguments. Suriano coming in means PSU doesn't need Lee right out if the gate and can offer a redshirt. Meanwhile, who is Iowa going to have in 2018/19 at 125 if not a true freshman? Suriano picking Penn State over Iowa was big for more then one reason.

Do you know what a straw man is? You said the fact that Lee wants to redshirt is in Penn State's favor. I addressed that direct point by pointing out that Iowa red shirts everyone. Iowa has wrestled Alex Grunder, Aaron Janssen and others rather than pulling a redshirt. In fact you and there have tried to use that propensity against them by claiming guys want to wrestle right away and Iowa won't let them. Now you're trying to argue that a possible hole would cause them to force him in the lineup, when they've never shown that to be true. Ever.

Now you're just making things up Vak. Show me where I ever criticized Iowa for not letting true freshman start. That's just more black and yellow straw. My point was pretty obvious and I'm not going to keep repeating myself. Feel free to keep deluding yourself into thinking Suriano to Penn State wasn't a good thing for their recruitment of Lee.
