2020

You guys think Dake will go up or down?
I think everyone is hoping they add a few weights for 2020. If so, keeping 79kg makes sense because the gap between 74kg and 86kg is 26 lbs, two pounds more, even, than the difference between 86kg and 97kg.

If they keep the weights the same as 2016 the choices for Dake are cutting 11lbs vs bulking up 15lbs, and unseating JB vs unseating DT. Dake nearly beat JB for the 74kg spot, and also nearly beat Cox for the 86kg spot, so he probably feels like he could medal at either weight, and I think he'd be right.

Given his record vs DT he probably thinks he could beat him for that spot, though DT wouldn't be the same wrestler Dake has beaten however many times. I imagine they wrestle each other a lot these days and maybe Dake has a better idea of how that might go.

JB is still capable of medaling (I think he looked better than Chamizo in his criteria loss, got to his legs and converted, Chamizo's points were flukier) but Dake has jumped levels as well.

If what's best for the team is any consideration, given JB is entering the last phase of his career, it's probably best if Dake and DT were both on any 6 person team, given how dominant they've looked.

But I also think it's too soon for anyone--Dake, DT, JB, USA Wrestling to plan that way since it's still a question whether 2020's weights will look like 2016's.

I think you need to take over Mike C's, oops I mean Foley's column.

Not until he pledges to drive the conversion to freestyle only American wrestling. Not until happens will USA wrestling become a force.
Ignore any results indicating full of shyt and Foley are synonymous.

I actually enjoy FS probably about as much as folk, but I don't trust that any FS match I'm watching won't be ruined by corruption, and I don't see any sign that that that's changing. International sports bodies on the whole are corrupt but it too often bleeds into the actual competition in FS wrestling.

Thanks. I recall reading that being decided a year or so ago, then for some reason thought it was open for debate again. But that's never been how the IOC works.

The bias in officiating makes it really difficult to stay emotionally involved in international competition. Not just in wresting. Boxing in the 1960s and gymnastics forever.

Was Roy Jones Jr. even born in the 1960s?
