FWIW here was the Elite 11 coaches rankings after day one, Grunkemeyer at 10.
Considering Rivals has him at 28th, he shouldn't even be there let alone be evaluated in the top 10.

Penn State tight end commit Luke Reynolds, deserves a tip of the cap for his work on Thursday night. the 6-foot-4.5, 220-pounder ran a seemingly endless number of routes for the quarterbacks. Reynolds is a top athlete in the combine setting, but showed that twitch can transfer over to the field. The burst, change of direction and ability to finish catches stood out.
Kudos to Luke as well.

I’d argue this is something nice about him.
Rated as a high three-star prospect, the Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy standout has a strong arm and the ball pops as he especially threw some nice crossers and was great throwing it down the seam.
Twice in this thread, the evaluators have said that Grunk's throws have a "second life," what the heck does that mean?

He’s able to create plenty of power through his torso and is able to rip the ball to the second level with ease. The deep ball might not have been there for Grunkemeyer on Thursday, but it was Friday as he fired right into the teeth of the defense multiple times. He’s a nice find for James Franklin.

3. Ethan Grunkemeyer – 3-star Penn State commit
Ethan Grunkemeyer was perhaps the most pleasant surprise at the Elite 11 Finals. The Penn State pledge flashed arguably the most explosive arm action at the event. From early on in Day 1, the ball jumped out of Grunkemeyer’s hand. He easily drove the ball downfield on a line – as well as anyone. The Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy product was the On3 MVP on Day 1 with a very impressive day in drill work. He backed that up with a strong showing during his pro day, flashing loose, coordinated movements to go with his plus arm. Grunkemeyer had an up and down 7-on-7 session on Day 3 but still made a number of high level throws. He showed he could go throw for throw alongside the best quarterback prospects in the cycle.
