Never had a year with a WAR over 2.0
Career record of 47-61 with an ERA over 4.0

Last year:
11-13 with an ERA of 5.0 and a WHIP of 1.3
Led the league in three categories - Hits Allowed, Runs Allowed, and HR allowed

Just signed for $81 MILLION for FIVE years

WOW!

BTW - The pitcher is Jeff Smrdzjghyxa

They woulda' gotten more value from Vance Worley, career record of 31-28, Career ERA of 3.80 :)

If you have a son, teach him how to throw a baseball. It's even better if he's a lefty. Even a mediocre southpaw in the bullpen can hang around in the bigs longer than you'd think possible. I read an article a few years ago in which an unidentified retired left handed pitcher admitted as much. He said as he got older he was less effective but the simple fact he was a lefty who could at least find the plate made him valuable to some teams as a situational pitcher.

Samardzija has made a living off of good "stuff" and a few dominant months. He made the right career choice.

Baseball is the way to go to get rich off being slightly above average. If you are great you will be wealthy. Imagine what Trout's next contract is going look like. They might give him half the franchise.
