At game time in Columbus. Keep an eye on this, poor weather has a way of equalizing things...
As I drove thru C-Bus this evening traveling back from Maryland, the radio weather man said weather will be bad on Saturday. Expecting rain & wind.At game time in Columbus. Keep an eye on this, poor weather has a way of equalizing things...

Still wish we were playing in perfect weather at 8pm and all of america was watching. We play better at night.
But.... it's time to strap it on. On Saturday, we find out how tough these kids really are. Wind, rain, cold... the stuff of legends.
Tell CJF to have the kids watch 300. Then let's have at it!
It will be interesting to see how Justin Fields handles the weather. We do not get many bad weather days like this in Georgia. And when we do everything shuts down. I doubt he has played in many 35 degree freezing rain games.
I think it favors the tougher team.I am not sure who bad weather favors? I can see that working both ways.
Fine. I doubt he has played in many games that were 35 and rainingI doubt anyone has played in 35 degree freezing rain games since the surface has to be below freezing for it to be freezing rain.

The air temperature can be 35 and the ground temperatures below freezing. That's how you get freezing rain. If the air temp is below freezing it would be snow or sleet.I doubt anyone has played in 35 degree freezing rain games since the surface has to be below freezing for it to be freezing rain.

Agree that it will probably not freeze on a football field. Freezing rain forecasts are given roads, trees, power lines etc. You'd have to have a ton of cold air preceding the event to have much freezing happen in that case. Especially on a football field. With a low of 28 the night before, you're probably not getting that.
Depends on how soon the rain arrives after the air temp rises above freezing. You'd have to have a ton of cold air preceding the event to have much freezing happen in that case. Especially on a football field. With a low of 28 the night before, you're probably not getting that.

I wish Cain was at100%. This game screams for a cowbell back. Someone who can get 4 yards every play, chew up clock, keep the ball in our hands.
He handled the rain during the Wisconsin game just fine (12 for 22, 167 yards, 2 TDs). It started at kickoff (noon) and never stopped. Miserable day. Saturday looks like it might be worse because of 35ish temps. If we get the same weather as Wisconsin game, you're going to get a large dose of Dobbins and Teague. They ran for 163 and 76 yards respectively against what was then the No. 1 in Division I. More of a concern for Ohio is Field's health. This team does not have a Cardale Jones waiting on the bench. Fields must stay health. Good luck Nits.It will be interesting to see how Justin Fields handles the weather. We do not get many bad weather days like this in Georgia. Just once, I'd like a Big Ten team to get to play an SEC team under these conditions. Just once.Still wish we were playing in perfect weather at 8pm and all of america was watching. We play better at night.

The SEC hasn't come north of the Mason-Dixon since Gettysburg.Just once, I'd like a Big Ten team to get to play an SEC team under these conditions. Just once.
We had Bama once late in the year. But the game time temperature ended up being 75. Ol' Bear had an "in" somewhere....The SEC hasn't come north of the Mason-Dixon since Gettysburg.
Back at ya Buckeye. Hopefully injury free game for both sides. OSU is very different this year - very focused. I credit Day for how well they execute and put teams away. If history means anything in this series lately, it should be a competitive ball game.Favors PSU in my opinion...rather have a dry, fast track. If it's really nasty, Day will be less inclined to take downfield shots, minimizing the benefits of what appears to be one of our biggest relative advantages. In any event, it's gonna be a helluva game....good luck to your Nits.

Yeah, I've always thought way too much is made of this weather thing regarding individual players. I mean, it's not like a cold rain is going to turn Fields into some scared little boy. He didn't get to where he is by letting something like that dramatically affect his performance. He handled the rain during the Wisconsin game just fine (12 for 22, 167 yards, 2 TDs). He was "90%" two weeks ago. Gotta be close.I wish Cain was at100%. This game screams for a cowbell back. Someone who can get 4 yards every play, chew up clock, keep the ball in our hands.
I thought Franklin pulled players out of hospital beds on game day?He was "90%" two weeks ago. Gotta be close.
Wasn't the Bama game (in the 10-year series in the 80's) always the second week of October (as Bama always followed PSU with Tennessee in the third week of October)?? At least that's my recollection of how / when it was when I was at Penn State in the 80s...
81 it was snowing, and I think that’s the only time bear came to happy valleyWe had Bama once late in the year. But the game time temperature ended up being 75. Ol' Bear had an "in" somewhere....
