Because some folks seem to think PSU is the only program that has bowl opt outs I decided to look at all the first RD opt outs of players not on a playoff team or not on a team that made the Bowl.
19 players total it was not on a playoff team and bowl eligible. Out of those 19 players ONLY 4 played in the Bowl games.
I don't like the opt outs either but I understand not risking your future. What is flat out ridiculous are fans that get all bitter saying crazy crap like players dropped or didn't get drafted because they opted out of the bowl. One person actually thought Chop would drop out PURE BITTERNESS. Yet Chop was a 1st RD pick and 4th Edge guy taken which would not have changed if he played in the bowl. Olu was the 3rd OT taken.
Kalen King had a HORRIBLE year followed up by a HORRIBLE combine which is the ONLY reason he dropped. Dixon had a down year as well and was ALWAYS a border line draft pick. On the flip side Hardy was first corner drafted from PSU and why was that? Because he had the BEST year. Why else? Because Hardy ran a 4.38 and King ran a 4.61.
