8 Nittany Lions invited to NFL Combine

is Barkley going to go and compete? Not sure there is any upside to this (other than to make Obliviax pay attention). Meanwhile, Kiper came out with 2.0 and still names Barkly as the overall #4 pick to the Browns.

yes, not much upside. there are already so many measurables on him very little new data could come from this. actually, all downside as his expected metrics will be so high anything less would be a disappointment. everyone sees him as 4.38 in 40, so if for some reason he ran a 4.52, it would be downside. not sure if he could lose status in draft or not, but hard to imagine him going higher. if he had some kind of character flaw, maybe it would pay for him to attend.

i dont normally watch the Combine, but is it normal for the top couple people to skip? anyone familiar with track record of top couple picks? did Cam Newton attend?

Great news for Apke and Haley. They must be closer to making it than I expected. Hopefully they put up good numbers.

Cabinda's the guy I'm most interested in seeing how they perform. We know Barkley and Gesicki will be insanely athletic. Hamilton needs a good 40 time...not great just good.

He's a late round pick/UDFA. Lots of people get drafted that aren't invited to the combine
Lots? is 15% lots? Certainly not a good sign, but I am rooting for him.

Every year, 330 NFL draft prospects are invited to Indianapolis to be tested mentally, physically and athletically in front of every NFL decision maker, plus most NFL scouting and coaching personnel.

However, even with 330 players invited, 15 percent of players drafted each year on average will have not been in attendance at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Yeah, if even 5% of the guys drafted aren't at the combine I consider that to be a lot. 15% is a ton. That's nearly 35-40 players not at the combine. I consider that a lot--if you don't then I have no idea what you think would be a lot when only 253 are drafted.

for me 'a lot' would be over 100 which is only about 40% , but whatever.

The Combine site has a detailed write-up including Strengths and Weaknesses of each player as well as a draft prediction.

IMHO - It’s well worth taking a half hour and reading about the eight PSU players.

And as usual, OSU has literally half of a football team invited. I admire their ability to re-load and compete for titles regularly.

I'm sure this is a bit of a rough draft but the NFL site evaluates Mahon as a 4th-5th rounder:

Perhaps the GMs just don't care about his detailed metrics because of how much tape they already have. The kid has played tons of snaps almost everywhere on the line. Great soldier for the program.

If he was a likely 4th round pick he'd be at the combine. I think that's very optimistic for him but I hope it plays out that way.
