Those that think the sanctions didn't exist or are tired of hearing about them, suck it up.
2012 Gaia, Dowrey, and Stanko (Gaia and Dowrey played first 2 years at DT)
2013 Nelson, Mahon, and Hartman...yep, that is it. (Hartman was a crazy last ditch reach)
2014 Wright, Sorrel, Brosnan, Beh (3 of the 4 weighed 260 or below and the other was a prep school guy) None have yet to make a real impact.
Now most schools may play a frosh or two with a bunch of veterans and this is what is occuring here, but the RS seniors weren't meant to carry this OL when they were recruited. The problem is that the RS Seniors, Seniors, and Juniors on this team had TWO legit OL in terms of what the recruiting world projected to be D1 OL. Dowrey and Gaia and whipping posts on this board, but look at the options Franklin walked into and these guys moved and made the best of what they had. To be honest I've kind of grown tired of those two being whopped up on. They stayed and played during some horrible times for PSU.
In 3 classes during the HEART of the sanctions this is what Franklin had for his OL options. Now Bates, Jenkins, Menet, Fries....etc will all make an impact down the road IMO, but if you are dependent upon Frosh and RS Frosh to make up your entire OL...you are sunk.
Now lets look at 2015. Palmer, Bates, Gonzalez, and Jenkins. (Palmer was a band aid, Jenkins was a 2-3 year project. Bates is starting as a RS Frosh.
In 2016 you see Menet, McGovern, Alex G, and Fries. All 4 have gotten good reviews with McGovern seeing PT early in his TRUE FROSH year.
Bottom line is PSU was lucky to win 7 games the last 2 years and now are left rushing kids out there due to the absolute train wreck of a depth chart...due to....WAIT FOR IT...WAIT FOR IT...than sanctions. I know the ended and the last 2 classes added some options, but most HS kids need a year or two to make a REAL IMPACT. Skill positions not so much...OL need that year or two in most cases.
