A note on TA Cunningham 6'6" 275 lb DT who is making his commitment 7/22/2023

Looking for NIL deals on the up and up is fine according to the rules. But, brokering your son, a rising HS Junior, to move across the country and to play in a strange place without verifying eligibility is a bit over the top. I'm not sure of the kids age, but a rising Junior is typically 16 year old. That's crazy. Of course this is just my opinion.
I tend to agree. But #1 I'm not familiar with the family financial situation #2 haven't we seen situations where QBs have reclassified to take NIL money and then jumped ship? I think it's hard to taint the kid if he was victimized by adults.

Time to stop complaining about a PSU commitment. This is a special day for any athlete and we have some child here on this site not letting go of trying to smear him. Are you a Pitt fan? Even if you disagreed with this take, why wouldn't you shut your mouth at this point? Let it go. You need a good nap.

From his commitment presser:

“Penn State it’s a great school. I know I can go there and get developed as a football player. Finding that school where I can see development and growth as a man and individual as well as a football player. That wasn’t as easy to come by. Penn State had both of those.”

Give the young man a chance.

It's not the kid with me, it's his family. Now that he's committed this discussion can end. I hope he does well.

I wouldn't go that far. I acknowledge there appears to be risk but there also appears to be a massive upside if he has the proper focus. It's an opportunity to positively impact the young man and his family. If it doesn't work, he will would likely move on. But I think we have the right culture in place and Franklin is the type of leader where a kid like this just might flourish.
Massive upside. You gotta take chances on kids like this if you want to compete with the big boys.

Should just move them (he and brother) to State College High and hook them up with NIL $. Didn't we have a future wrestler move to State College for his senior year so he could work out at Nittany Wrestling? This seems the same so long as PSU's not footing the bill.

Only concern is father being an issue. Sounds like Dad wants to be supported by his kids. That can be a bad recipe, but Franklin is pretty good at this type of stuff.
His brother is going to likely be a high 4 star if not elite 5 star fwiw.

Jumping Jehoshaphat, I love the way you think. We just ended an amazing episode of hand wringing over T.A. Cunningham, and now you want to stir the pot over a 2026 kid. 😀😃😁

I'm saying if we take/get T.A. we will likely get his brother. Not sure what you mean by stiring the pot.

If you have to explain the joke then it isn’t funny. That’s on me not you.
What I was implying is that with all the hand wringing from some people over the kids past the same would probably happen over his younger brother. And since he’s a 2026 recruit people would have 2 or 3 years to harden their positions, even if T.A. had a fine career here. Because God forbid no one can ever admit they were wrong anymore. I throw out many wry comments, not all of them hit the mark.
