A tip-of-the-cap to Ovie & his boys and to all Caps fans everywhere!

Congratulations and best of luck to you as you move forward.

May you finally drink from Lord Stanley's Cup!

Hey Flyer fans, do you mind if we join you?

How about a best-ball scramble??

:)

Yeah, living and working in DC I'm happy for these guys. I love the Pens but the numbers just weren't on their side - at some point, it's going to end. Now all the Caps license plates I see with stuff like 'CPS WIN' or '4THECUP' aren't as funny as they used to be. Good luck to them!

As a life long Caps fan, thank you. Classy post just like the Pens fan base. Pure class. Thank you Pittsburgh.

Thx Glov...classy post. I'm still in shock we won. LOL

Indeed, congrats. Great series, and gutty win for your lads.

I don't like how Wilson/Oshie play, but they're no anomoly in what will always be the garage league. The balance of the team I either like or really like, and I always enjoyed the fan base when I lived in D.C.

I'll be rooting for Flower & the Pens West, but I'll pull for Ovie and Co against anyone else.

I find no joy in rooting against a team because they beat my team. I'm neutral for the Tampa vs Washington series and will derive no joy if the Caps lose. That's how normal fans react.

The Washington - Tampa Bay series should be interesting. I am all in for Vegas. I think it would be great for an expansion team to win the cup in their inaugural season. From what I know, there has never been an expansion team to have had the success that Vegas has already had in the inaugural season. I also like Vegas on account of Marc-Andre Fleury. IMO, he is a first class person. I wish him the best going forward, particulary for the rest of the Stanley Cup playoffs,

Classy post, Glov. Props.

My poor Sharks. They are just the latest victim of these amazing Golden Knights. Pretty sure an expansion team has never made it to the Conference finals, much less the Cup finals.

Unless you count the 1968 St. Louis Blues but that is different. The whole "Western Division" was made up of NHL expansion teams including the Penguins and Flyers so somebody would end up facing the top team of the original six in the Stanley Cup final.

I believe that's true for a lot of fans. The lovable underachievers or a team from Florida.

Not really much to care about except for fans of those teams.

That was a great series to watch (aside from Wilson's antics). Not sure if the Caps will get by the Bolts (will need Backstrom), but there is a reason they play the games.

Depends on how you define it, as due to the setup for the "second six" an expansion team was guaranteed to be in the Cup finals in 1967. But truthfully, this is an amazing season for Vegas. I'm pleased for "Wild Bill" Karlsson, who was a fun player to watch here in Columbus but morphed into something rather unexpected this season. There have been cases in European soccer where promoted teams have won their league championships, but that's a bit different from expansion. In pro soccer in the US, there is the case of the expansion Philadelphia Atoms who won the NASL championship in 1973 and the Chicago Fire who won MLS as an expansion team in 1998.

And then there's the Browns who won the NFL Championship in their first year in the league--but it would be tough to call them an expansion team.
