If Kemerer beats Marinelli at US Open and Spencer doesn't win it, I'm pretty sure the "off-season from hell" will have become worse.

I'd expect a lot of lamenting posts questioning why Michael didn't get a contract (meanwhile Marinelli wasn't even sure about competing when he became an HWC member).

I'd also expect there could be a posting-push to bring Kemerer back as an Assistant Coach, regardless of Michael's career goals.

Your not taking into account that a small percentage of fans post on a message board and a small percentage of the people who post act in a negative manner. Similar percentages exist here but are not as apparent when you have the upper hand. The need to antagonize those that are the antagonists shows a lack of moral character on those that engage in such behavior. The majority of Iowa fans are good people doing the right thing and have to sift through the bad behaviors for information on these message boards.

The hostility is simply the nature of those being so hostile and vile. They treat one another the same way — basically anyone with a different opinion or perspective (or even facts) is attacked with crude & vulgar insults. Those particular individuals deserve their feelings when bad karma turns around and bites them in the ass.

I'm sure there will be zero animosity from the fans directed at Kem (just like if Hall beats Brooks...), but there will be hand-wringing and animosity on GIA directed at HWC over why he is not there at HWC, regardless of whether his reasons to go back east are legit or not. Agreed, no ill-will. I didn't indicate there'd be any; quite the opposite. I'm speaking more directly to immediate parochial interests of HWC-centric fanatics.

I'm as excited about our recent pick-ups as everyone else is. This is quite a team we will have next year (depending on who RSs), and for years to come. But I'm troubled a bit by the intensity of the rubbing it (especially on Iowa) that I read here. I know that some of Iowa's extreme fans post things over the top. I would like to think that we can absorb that and not respond in kind. I like to think that we can just let our coaches and wrestlers make the case of how good they are, without our wanting/needing to belittle others. I know that this is just my opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs. But I would prefer taking pleasure in the great character and performance or our guys, rather than in knocking down others. If everyone is free to share their opinion, then I guess I am too. I also think I speak for a good number of others.

I think if he graduates before taking an Olympic RS and does not win Olympic Gold, he will come back for a 4th NCAA title. I think it is much less likely for him to attend graduate school to go for a 4th or 5th NCAA title after he's won Olympic Gold.

If he hasn't graduated before taking an Olympic RS, I think it's much more likely he comes back for a 4th. Then a 5th would be dependent on getting into PSU graduate school, becoming a NLWC resident athlete, NIL, and his desire to obtain 2028 Olympic Gold when compared to his desire to enter MMA.

However he decides to move forward, including focusing on MMA earlier, I'll be supportive and thankful for his time in a PSU singlet. He's got to live his own best life.

My minimal understanding of general human behavior says the majority of people in general would not "boo" an injury so for you to think 0 of the 69,000 fans (or accounting for hyperbole we will say less than 35,000 of the 69,000 fans) were not booing then you are just making things up to support a preconceived opinion.
