Agree. At this point these guys just need to get high end international exposure and get that experience.
I'd love to see a Brooks-Yazdani match. Very similar stylistically.
Don't Expect that. The other countries take U23s pretty serious. Our results at U23 haven't been what you would think going in. I would expect him to win it, but he'll definitely have some battles.
This guy ran through pretty easily and I think AB is on the same level. I think AB will have a bit tougher time than Bo but still wins gold

Any age group bracket is totally unpredictable. It could have nobody good or the next big thing nobody's heard of yet.
I remember when Marsteller was expected to roll through cadet worlds and dislocated his elbow in the semis. Little did we know he would have run into Sadulaev in the finals.
People were surprised when Aaron Pico was dominated by a young Iranian named Yazdanicharati.
There was a junior 55 kg bracket that went 1) Khinchegashvilli 2) Asgarov. They were both already top 5 in the world and were in the olympic finals less than 2 years later. I think Chamizo was in that bracket too and then medaled at seniors a month later.
You just never know who's going to be there.
That's not false, we had some good wrestlers miss the podium just last year (Vito, Carr) at this level But idk, Brooks is beating Zahid, being competitive with DT, I think he should win that bracket pretty easily.
What was the name of the Russian that beat Aaron in his last U20 finals? I thought he was a shoo-in for that gold too. Obviously Aaron has improved tremendously since then, but maybe that Russian has been drilling with Sadulaev the whole time too. As a USA homer, I almost always undervalue the field at world level events. Tryna do better.
Glad to hear it. Even though it’s not the senior level event it will still be strong international competition to continue to get better.
Brooks is farther along Freestyle-wise before his senior year then Bo was when Bo won U23, and Bo cruised too the title.
Im giving the folkstyle edge too Nickal though, AB is gonna be a 4xer but he’s gonna really need to turn on the bonus too match what Bo did.
I don’t think anyone isn’t recognizing Brooks for what he is: a threat to win senior world medals. He’s very, very good. He’d likely cruise through Bo’s U23 bracket too. I think our point is, with the age level tourneys, very very good wrestlers pop up from all over, and you never know when the next all timer may have just had a birthday or growth spurt.
Cassioppi dominated his way through U23s, but Starocci didn't make the finals. In the same year, Starocci was outperformed by Tanner Sloan and Jacob Cardenas. But nobody here would claim those guys are better than Carter.
You just can't predict who's going to be there.
I won't lie guys, Richie Lewis winning U23 gold is why I underrate that level. I recognize it has grown significantly since haha.
