Sort of related...was at the DE shore this past weekend. A school of dolphins swims by and everybody freaks out and runs out of the water. Amazing how the news can stir such a panic.
Yep, media hype. Next they'll be advocating elimination of all shark species.Sort of related...was at the DE shore this past weekend. A school of dolphins swims by and everybody freaks out and runs out of the water. Amazing how the news can stir such a panic.

No idea for sure but I have heard the turtle population is exploding down south the and sharks are following the turtles (following their food source)FWIW....My wild ass guess on this is two fold. Shark populations are on the rise due to public awareness and shark prey/food sources are on the decline due to overfishing namely Menhaden whose spawning grounds/fishing grounds are very close to the recent shark attacks. The state of Virginia allows huge Russian fishing trollers to harvest gigantic amounts of menhaden right at the mouth of the Chesapeake & Outer Banks.
....just a wild ass guess.
"Go GATAH"!Sounds like that Florida representative a few years ago that gave the 'go gator' speech on the floor of the House of Representatives while in her bathrobe.
