I've never liked the DH, but maybe I'd feel differently if I lived in an AL city. I wonder how many AL pitchers, if any, have hit home runs in NL parks? That doesn't happen in the AL EVER!
What? What??That doesn't happen in the AL EVER!

There was a Pirate pitcher in the 60s or 70s who pinched hit. I cannot remember his name. DH is not baseball. Baseball is played with nine people, all of whom play the whole game. Why not allow 2-5 DH hitter, players who can no longer field but are better batters than the starters? That doesn't happen in the AL EVER!
Great memory Mary. The pitcher was Don Robinson. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Robinson_(baseball)There was a Pirate pitcher in the 60s or 70s who pinched hit. I cannot remember his name. In 1990, Robinson became the first pitcher to hit a pinch-hit home run since 1971 against the San Diego Padres; the same year, he lost the first ever no-hitter at Veteran's Stadium to the Phillies' Terry Mulholland 6–0.
Oops, sorry, he didn't play in the 70s! Now this is killing me. Help! Who was the Pirates pinch hitting pitcher?
Ken Brett. The brother of George Brett. One of the better hitting pitchers in the game, certainly back in the 70's.Great memory Mary. The pitcher was Don Robinson. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Robinson_(baseball)

Bingo! Thanks!Ken Brett. The brother of George Brett. One of the better hitting pitchers in the game, certainly back in the 70's.
Thank you. The Pirates had a couple of decent hitting pitchers in the early 60s if I remember correctly. Maybe Harvry Haddix was on of them but it was around his time. I remember Ralph Kiner hitting home runs in the 50s. "Open up the window aunt Minnie, it's coming through." Rest in peace Rosie Rosewell.Ken Brett. The brother of George Brett. He should have sat on the bench while some fat bastard who can't play defense batted for him!Vernon Law had a batting avg.230 for his career,.333 in the 60s world series. His career ended in 1967.
Why just dh? Why not 8?Yep, a couple times a year a pitcher gets a hold of a pitch. Big deal. I'd much rather watch Victor Martinez bat 4 times a game
LOL for some crazy reason, I remember Hank Foils, one of the worst hitting catchers in MLB history. He lasted about 10 years with the Pirates until Smokey Burgess came along in the block buster trade that won the world series.I remember Vernon Law, and also Dick Hall, a pitcher who also was used as a pinch hitterback in the '50s. Dick Hall also played in the NBA.
