Have stayed at Fairmont Southampton several visits and love their private beach...but this visit will have 5 adults, necessitating 2 rooms. The moths are fleeing my wallet as I contemplate the additional cost of the second room...Any ideas, suggestions, guaranteed winning lottery #'s?

Pompano Beach Resort. 75 rooms, private beach on a couple hundred yard sand bar. Have stayed there several times. I highly recommend it. Owned by the Lamb brothers from Boston. Great food, great service, very well maintained facility. You will love it.

Grotto Bay Beach Resort. Everything on Bermuda is expensive. I’ve seen deals for Grotto Bay on Groupon. I’ve never stayed there but did visit the property. You might want to try VRBO as well.

Whatever you do, avoid the Triangle Hotel. You can check out, but you can never leave.

I have stayed at The Reefs and loved the location and private beach. Food options there were good. Check for specials as they routinely have a 4 nights for 3 offer.

Stayed at the Lowes in St. George, on the bluff. But that was 36 years ago. It was great, but some what secluded. It was converted into a Club Med after that, not sure who is running that property now, but it was very nice.

Some years later we stayed at I believe a Sonesta Beach resort on the south coast. I don't believe it is still there now either.

Pretty hard to go wrong in Bermuda. But I would not stay right in Hamilton. The beaches are so beautiful, I recommend staying at one of the resorts that have the best beaches.

My son was married there and he rented a private home that comfortably slept 9 of us. Not sure what website he found it on and not sure of the cost, but I know it was way cheaper than staying at a hotel. we were right across the bay from Hamilton.

0 for 2 - They tore down the Club Med a long time ago and Sonesta was damaged in a hurricane a number of years ago and has since also been torn down - stayed there on my Honeymoon, was nice. There are a number of Guest Houses that you can rent. We usually do that so we can eat in sometimes - as stated it's an expensive island.

Just got back from there. Decent place very close to airport; a bit older and needs some upgrading but convenient to St. Michael's, The Swizzle Inn, hiking and some great caves to tour....Very friendly and helpful staff. It is the only all inclusive on the island and we met a lot of folks who have gone back year after year. While all inclusive the meals are good and not just buffets.

The Lowes was quite a property. Coat required for dinner. The dining was on the top floor looking out over the ocean. We had our own waiter for the entire week. Great service and great food. Very nice beach (private) as well. But then again, it's not hard to have a great time on your honeymoon.

Sonesta, though nice, was not nearly as nice. Too many kids running around, and the dining was average at best.

Don't know where I'd go if we go back to Bermuda. I'd check to see what was built on the bluff at St. George though..........

Lots of private homes that rent out when owners are away or they have apartments attached that they rent. Did it twice and it was very good and much cheaper.
