AKB -- Car maintenance question

you implied it...

Timing belts are not in the same league as a cabin air filter... if the manufacturer calls for timing belt replacement at 90k - and you decide it’s wiser to solicit a second opinion - what type of mechanic is gonna tell you to blow timing belt service off?

not sure what you’re driving - but if you happen to have a DSG - i would not defer on the factory recommended the tranny service or deviate from the intervals ...

the “seasonal” A/C service solicitation is worthy of consumer scorn ... i would have pepper-sprayed the service agent

thank you for telling me what I implied. Appreciate the accountability.

This thread kind of saddens me! During WW II there was a shortage of rubber because the Japanese controlled Okinawa and Saipan (rubber trees). My father was one of 13 children and worked in a recap shop even before he was 12. The Army discovered this and he was assigned to recapping. His officer from Brooklyn started a tire handling (anything to do with tires) and hired my dad after the war. My dad was to good at it and he would not pay my dad the commissions he had agreed to and so dad started his own business! I can not tell you the number of Coats tire changers and Ingersoll Rand impact wrenches I helped rebuild as a teenager. I know it kind of hurt my dad that I did not take the business over after I graduated from PSU, however, he was still very proud I worked for the PFC for 30 years!
