My iPhone seems to have died. It went black and won't power back on. I took it to the geniuses at the Apple Store and they said the logic board was dead, hence no powering up. However, when the phone is plugged in, and I flip the silence switch on the left side, it vibrates. Also, with the screen black, I started holding down random side buttons and I got it to make an emergency siren sound coupled with a subsequent call to 911. I was even able to speak with the 911 operator even though I couldn't hang up or see anything on my screen. Also, when you call the phone, it rings (again, nothing on screen showing up). I have insurance and can have the phone replaced, but the issue is I haven't been diligent on backing it up (shame on me, and let this be a lesson to you all). I've been ignoring the messages about my iCloud storage being maxed out, so all my photos from the past year are not saved in the cloud.
I've tried to restore it via iTunes and nothing. All I want to do is get the photos off the phone so I can turn it in to Apple for the replacement. And no, Apple can't do anything about data recovery other than refer you to DriveSavers who will charge over $1000 for the data recovery. No thanks. Any help is appreciated.
