3 All-Americans from the state of Minnesota, none from the University of Minnesota, and only 2 All-Americans total for the Gophers. Now there's a program down in the doldrums at the moment.

Nino is the only NCAA Champ this year that never won a HS State Championship

I cam do it after work. PSU Wrestling Club has the pts by name. Flo has a list of each wrestler's state. Easy copy/paste into Excel.
Thanks EJ. I could probably pull this stuff together too, but there are guys on this board like you who already know how to get the data. BTW - who do you work for?

Pts per state. Note a few internationals:
- Canada (Lachlan McNeil, North Carolina 141)
- Belarus (Yaraslau Slavakouski, Harvard HWT)
- Cuba (Yonger Bastida, Iowa State 197)

If anyone wishes to replicate (or do this for themselves), here's how:
- Pts by name from the Penn State Wrestling Club site
- Names by state found on Flo (Google search)
- Copy/paste each into a separate tab in Excel
- Sorted each tab by name, did a quick verification (had to manually add 3 corrections -- Flo's list was the original entrants, not reflecting withdraws and alternates)
- Added a "State" column to the PSWC tab. Used the Excel VLOOKUP function to populate this column.
- Pivot table of the PSWC tab data, to generate the sums.

Also the only NCAA champ or All-American who probably thinks Donnie Iris is the best rock and roll singer ever.
He is the ONLY wrestler in the tournament who even knows who Donnie Iris is. Bet he knows the lyrics to Ah Leah

Not quite comparable but I thought it would be interesting to look at the total NCAA points by state for the top 50 tournament scoring wrestlers of all time:
