One of the worst 1st quarters of an offense I've ever seen. There preperation going into the first few serire's and beyond is usually horrible, and this one is directly on the coaches. Usually the first couple series run smooth because they are sometimes scripted, or at least come out like they are scripted and look good. Of all the coaches in D.1 could have had them better prepared for the start of this game.
Finally, after the entire quarter, (waiting way to long) they started rolling Hack out, buying him time, and he was able to pick WR's out down field. You hardly ever see good teams start this bad. Then they have to dig themselves out of a whole instead of being up like 10 - 0 at the end of the first quarter.
They eventually find there groove, where they come back and make it a tight game, but he damage is done instead of having a comfortable lead going thru the second half like they should.
CJF should call the plays exclusively. He seems to have a better feel for the game and Donovan flat out sucks.
I wish after the year, CJF would just get rid of Donovan, and hire someone that knows offense. I know he wont because he is to loyal, but this is what needs to happen. We have a very young team that would not have to learn another new offense. Plus it could save CJF his job, which brings great recruiting and a great defensive coach that we need.
Does CJF watch film with Donovan and say, WOW! this horrible already and just not working. How could two D1 college coaches not come up with something better. I mean what is there thought process, when watching this pathetic offense?
