and your crappy delusional Michigan fan of the week goes to . . .

He is somewhat correct. Facts are fact! Franklin can shut these people up with consistent wins over these 3 division teams.

Yes we had sanctions but at this point you need to throw that out. I would love to kick these teams asses every year and make up some ground on our win loss record with them. I know franklin and this team can do it. I had us winning vs osu and I was surprised. Again, that we let it go. I know the coaches and this team will get better as the season goes on!

You can’t ever throw the sanctions out when discussing Franklin’s overall record. The playing field has only now become even. He’s been winning with the deck stacked against him. What Franklin has accomplished compared to Harbaugh is amazing.

Certainly relevant to the discussion of wins and losses during Franklin’s tenure. And it’s also a fair point that the sanctions should also be viewed as less and less relevant season by season.

So let’s switch the focus from Franklin’s disadvantages to the other programs’ advantages (or absence of disadvantages) over the past few years. By all objective measures, they should have been eating our lunch. Other than the debacle in Ann’s Arboretum a few years ago and a few that got away late, can anyone say that’s what been happening? We almost beat OSU. Meanwhile, they almost lost to Northwestern and already lost (by more) to a lesser team than OSU. Going after Franklin to defend Harbaugh and all he’s had to work with is just a UM fan embarrassing himself. Keep defending harbaugh. Heck, keep Harbaugh. Please!

Agree... simply amazing all things considered.

And still there were a handful of games in the first 2 Franklin years when he was rightly criticized for poor play-calling and/or time management that would have won us those games instead of them being excruciatingly close losses, which would have made his numbers even more amazing:
At Northwestern in '15, at Illinois in '14, and home vs. Maryland in the '14 handshake game come to mind.... all losses snatched from the jaws of victory. Maybe throw the '14 game at Michigan, too.

Those losses created plenty of angst here (with me included), but looking back, playing with a huge disadvantage in numbers made those near-misses more understandable. Well, sort of. In a way. Kinda. Ok, we shoulda won those games! I think hiring JoeMo helped in more ways than just the style of offense... time management and overall play selection were improved. Give CJF credit for recognizing the need for all that and making the changes.

He has taken huge strides, and I'm willing to be patient enough to think that will continue and we will be in the pre-season discussion about the post-season invitational more often than not, starting very soon. Just not soon enough for us PSU fans (who are supposed to de-emphasize football anyway, iirc.)

Agreed. And all coaches, even Nick Saban, can be criticized for some in-game decisions. I believe these close losses will turn into convincing victories sooner than later. The talking heads (and some "fans" here) forget or choose not to recognize that there is no precedent for this situation. No one, no one, can say "By now Franklin should be..." No coach has ever taken over a situation like Franklin did.

Really we have to go back to the sanctions. We should have beat msu and osu last year and osu this year. That had nothing to do with sanctions. Iowa crushed osu last year.
So as I said franklin can shut hat conversation down right now this year. Here we go!

Franklin can shut it down over the next few seasons. He isn't going to pass Dantonio & Harbaugh this year in winning percentage.

Then apparently we should have lost to Iowa. If we should have won every close loss, then I guess we should have lost every close win.

They cover Texas football in that or you just a smart ass with no knowledge of the history of Texas and just assume it's a glory boat when in reality it's more like a gas station glory hole

We are talking about Michigan here, so why bring Texas into it? I knew what you meant, just didn't see the relevance. We could throw VT, ND and others I'm sure into the conversation, but this wasn't a thread about classic and perennial under achievers, it was a comparison with UM and a delusional thread started by one of their fans. And stay away from those gas station glory holes. Never know who's behind the curtain.

No we beat that teams

We beat the teams that we need to for the most part. The conversation is about the big 3 right now in our division. Franklin will turn the conversation around where people from Michigan etc is worried every time about their teams chances when playing psu. Taking the arrogance out of Michigan is always a good thing.

Because people are tired of you whining about something that happened years ago. Thats why there is no respect in the Big 10 for Penn State. Grown men year after year whining and making excuses. Gotta admit Franklins record is not good against the big 2. Penn State is gonna lose to the big 2 again this year. Just keeping it real. Peace

Why would penn state lose to Michigan. I don’t see it happening.

Dumbest post of the year winner...congrats on such a moronic post. We’re all dumber just for having read it. “Happened years ago”...that’s f#%%ing hilarious.

You said they do less with more than anyone. They do not. Slam on them all you want but don't state something as fact when it's not

What have they done in the last 60 years? If you think I'm wrong, feel free to tell me who has done less then Michigan with the talent they get.

Texas 2005 congrats ... then way back to 69 thanks Nixon but whatever you say. mac brown years are not the norm. Losing to Maryland is the norm

6 of those losses to ranked teams happened under sanctions
6 of those losses to UM/OSU/MSU happened under sanctions

Franklin has us heading to the elite status.

Harbaugh has taken a stacked team and storied program and under achieved every year

totally agree - you need to look at Franklin from 2016 on. even then the 2016 loss to UMich in terms of points was directly related to the missing players at that point, and depth from sanctions. UMich would have struggled to beat PSU the night they played tOSU in 2016.

also the point difference in the losses since 2016 has been razor thin except for the UM 2016 freak situation.

also forgot to add - how many games has Harbaugh coached with a QB that was recruited into UM from HS, as opposed to his annual search on the free agent market. BIG gave him a pass on Ruddock which was amazing, and now for no logical reason, he got another from NCAA re current QB from Ole Miss.

In other words... please stop bringing up how O$U has been gifted wins over the years, it makes their fans sad to remember the truth.

Lol. Did Urban delete your other post?

Curious. Why would it make us sad? I know it makes you sad. No?

Because success should be earned, not given. I can’t believe I have to explain this.

Curious, why would it make us sad? Nobody cares about how people from Ohio feel.
