This topic comes up every now and then but its one of those topics that's worth regurgitating, at least I think so-- new members that have joined over the past year can jump in and "bare their sols" after reading how "committed" (or is it why we should be committed?) we are to Penn State football.
So What are your "traditions" or "superstitions" during game week or on Penn State game-day Saturdays?
I've described mine before but here goes...
First, on the Friday before the game, it's gotta be a Penn State polo, navy for home games and white for the away games. Damn those Friday meetings that require me to wear a tie. Of course, a Penn State tie is a must LOL.
Game-day-- white Penn State t-shirt under my white jersey for away games and navy Penn State t-shirt under the navy jersey. If they lose, that t-shirt gets relegated to the "during the week clothes", not to be worn again for a game. With the colder weather, switch t-shirt for sweatshirt. Then there's the gray t-shirts, they get worn for special games like the B1G Championship or a Bowl game, unless there's been an especially lucky navy or white tee, I had to give some flexibility LOL.
Oh, the jersey does not get put on until the end of the radio pre-game, prior to that, it's just the tee or sweatshirt... unless I'm actually at the game, then the jersey gets worn from the time I leave the house until I get back home.
Next, the hat. I'm a simple guy, I don't get into a whole lot of stuff on my hats so mine is a Navy Nike flex fit baseball cap with the white logo on the front. That's the home game hat. A similar white hat with navy logo for away games.
Oh yeah, during game weeks, I wear Penn State apparel all week, too.
Now on to a couple superstitions. First, the even number of beers rule. If I'm partaking (historically, I always have) I have to drink an even number of beers, it's bad luck if I don't. While my wife questions this rule, I've proven scientifically that it works (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). Next is the leg crossing-- when things go bad, have to switch legs. Yes, there have been times when my leg is cramping up or fallen asleep but damnit, we're going good so I'm not switching!
Those are just a few, there are others but this has already turned out too long... so what about the rest of you (even if you've posted before, repeat yourself for the benefit of others who may be new to our Board).
