Another "When you went to PSU" related survey:

Definite dorm rat. 1st floor Geary Hall (The Crawford Hose Company) for 4 years ('81-'85). Great parties, would clean out a room, kegs, grain, etc. Was even better when the study lounge was used for temporary housing as since it wasn't public area we could use that. I guess those days are long gone.

Shunk (Pollock) for Fr & So
Hartranft (Pollock) for Jr & Sr
Stayed in Wolf for a summer (can't recall which summer) which was guys / girls every other floor...
Snyder (East Halls) for Sr+

Hated Snyder. All the others were okay.

I was a dorm rat because my on campus job was paid by getting on campus room for 'free'.

I lived in Tener Hall as a Freshman, and McKean as a soph and junior. So basically I was an East Halls dorm rat for all but my senior year, when I lived in Laurel Glen and the scurvy bastards took my $400 security deposit into bankruptcy with them in the Spring. Of course, given the damage we may have ( I am having a Mark Dambly moment) done to the apartment, perhaps that security deposit was a goner anyway. :)

So, fess up: were you a dorm rat, a Greek, or a Mary Tyler-Moore wannbe apt dweller?
I lived in 114 Hartranft Hall all 4 years.

Transferred in from Altoona and stayed WestSide; first off Barnard, then for two years on Patterson, across the street from Nittany Bev.
If that sounds familiar, we had bands playing twice a week and a dolly loaned to us for the kegs we blew through.

Nittany Halls - Bldg #39 Room #14, 1980 - 1984. No RA's in the Building so we had Keg Parties in the Lounge and most Fridays a 1/4 Keg in the Shower just to get half a cheap load on before going out. Used to get the Ice for the Kegs for free from the "old" ice Rink which was right down the path from us - it was shaving from the Zamboni's and it was free. Dining Hall would also sell you a trash can full of ice for a few bucks. Never had anyone written up for anything - a lot less supervision back then.

Hetzel plaza freshman year first year it was built 1984. Fraternity sophomore year. Cedarbrook junior year and penn towers senior year. Oh what fun!

Ogontz first 2 years, then Nitttany for a short time, followed by 216 Thompson for the remainder of '63/'64, followed by 2 different apartments on S. Barnard St. (included a year of grad. work)

I lived in Geary Hall my first year, Geary (?) Hall/Beaver Hall my second year, University Terrace my 3rd and 4th years, and Shunk Hall my fifth year. If you thought the walk from East Halls to Hammond was bad, imagine walking from University Terrace to Walker Building. At least I was close Beaver Stadium at that point. Too bad Eastview Terrace wasn't built when I was still a student.

6th floor Tener Hall freshman and sophomore -same years as you . Remember - they made it co Ed?7th and 8th

Then several Dr Sun apartments at College and Atherton. Remember Dr Sun?

Stuart my first two years (loved it there), then Bigler (which went from women to men) and then I went to the basement of Professor Whaley's home (for a short time) and then to Beaver Hill acts., which was just nuts with all the friends I had there. I did have fun at Penn State and I graduated, too. Even am working in the field of my degree . . . History.

Two years PSNK at home, then two years in an apartment on South Atherton Street so my future ex-wife could come up every weekend and stay with me. What can I say? She wanted me. Hehe

First two yrs Worthington and last two Snyder, from Fall 77- Spring 79.
Longest walk on campus was in the winter, across Lot 80, to Willard for an 8 am class. As Lewis Black once said, are they trying to keep this stuff a secret!
