Anthony Cassar

“College wrestling” is an interesting choice of words. I always assumed he’d go right to MMA after leaving PSU. I guess this leaves the door open for a shot at freestyle?

I believe Cael said he'll be getting healthy to try to make the Olympic Trials.

Love “the champ” and will be surely missed. What an amazing journey.

Shout out to Gable Steveson in the comments giving respect to Anthony and wishing him well. I’ll be rooting for Gable against anyone not wearing a PSU or NLWC singlet.

I rewatched their semi-final match and it looked like they had big respect for each other at the end. Real recognize real I suppose (unless they've trained with each other before or something?)

Be great if a minny heavyweight W helps us get the championship, when before a minny heavyweight gave us the championship with a L.

I wouldn’t count out Snax for a finals appearance. I know it’s a long shot but I think he is going to surprise some people.
I agree with that. You know he's chomping at the bit with kerk there. He has something to prove and a chip on his shoulder

Besides his story of perseverance and dedication, one thing about Anthony I love is he lives for the biggest moments. He wants .... no he NEEDS the stakes to be high.

1. Winning Junior Freestyle Nationals as a redshirting freshman with limited freestyle experience. This is when his potential truly showed
2. Beating the superhuman Gable TWICE with amazing performances in the third period in the B1G Finals and NCAA semis (and let's be honest, that was more or less the de facto finals)
3. Avenging his only loss of the season by MAJORING Derek White in the NCAA Finals
4. Not talked about enough but saved our dual streak the first time by beating Jakobsen from Lehigh. We were down 19-17 at the time and it ws pretty safe to assume we wouldn't get more than a decision win from Nick over Jordan Wood
5. Of course, the legendary win over #1 Kollin Moore as our "backup" 197 in Rec Hall
