Read TEXAS by James Michener. Just about as accurate as one can get, while writing it in novel form.

Blood of Heroes by James Donovan
Three Roads to the Alamo by William C. Davis

I've read several. The one I would most recommend is:

Duel of Eagles, by Jeff Long

I believe it was initially published in 1990, and it still holds up as one of the best examinations of the battle from the perspectives of both sides.

13 Days to Glory: The Siege of the Alamo by Lon Tinkle. It's relatively old, but it held my interest. I read it in high school and still recall it fifty years later. I guess that almost makes it a contemporary account.

Not about the Alamo but about the successor Mexican America War, Gone for Soldiers by Jeff Shaara is great.
